CBA Summit Scout Day

On June 17th we held the scout day for one of the premier summer travel ball organizations in Utah, CBA Summit and CBA Warriors. The two teams are of various degrees of players from around the state, but most hail from the southern Utah area. The Summit team is the overall branded name of the Utah CBA organization, which is the main team that has been a staple on the travel ball circuit for a handful of years now and comprises players from around Region 10 and throughout the state as well. The Warriors group is a branch of the organization, composed of players from Snow Canyon HS. The teams range from the classes of 2024-2028. We held the scout day for the classes of 2024-2026, with one 2027 player in attendance. 

CBA Summit Coaches: Marc Nielson, the CBA state director, whose main focus is coaching the 2024 class, that makes up the Summit “Heinz 57” mix of players, while the “Warriors” are coached by Snow Canyon HS 4-time state championship head coach, Reed Secrist. Former longtime Utah Tech assistant coach Matt Hill coaches the 2025 class and other staff members, coaching the younger groups. CBA Summit year in and year out travel throughout Arizona, Las Vegas, SoCal, New Mexico and the Pacific NW playing in top tournaments exposing the varying degrees of talent to college recruiters. 

IN-EVENT TECH PACKAGE 

Following a Prep Baseball Report Scout Day, players received unrivaled access to their advanced ball-tracking and swing metrics through the Trackman Baseball and Blast Connect apps. Furthermore, key metrics will live inside a players Prep Baseball Report profile to help players in their recruitment process. 

POST-EVENT CONTENT

One of the many results of a PBR showcase is getting all the information collected to the public in a timely and digestible manner. Every showcase will be featured on the Prep Baseball Report website and social channels through various forms of post-event content, leaderboards, video spotlights and more.

The Prep Baseball Report is built at the hands of some of the most tenured and respected scouts in the industry, with such scouts as Utah Scouting Director, Jeff Scholzen, a former 20 year full-time MLB scout for the Los Angeles Angels and Milwaukee Brewers. We pride ourselves on our level of prospect knowledge, most of which is gained through PBR events. Showcases are designed and engineered by state Scouting Directors with the goal of collecting as much information about a prospect as possible and relaying our findings to the public through data collection and social media sites mainly through Twitter and Instagram. Twitter is especially important as we post and provide content through the sharing of leaderboards of our various tech packages, with exclusive content with provided links to articles and quick hits post event content of the top players that caught our attention, to market and expose players to college coaches. 

We will be spotlighting a handful of players that stood out in the coming days, and we have already begun rolling out social media videos of top players as we speak. Many of these players will begin committing to various colleges and universities by the end of the summer and into the fall/winter months. 

As we prepare for the various content to come out, we want to spotlight a growing list of past CBA Summit alums, who caught the attention of college recruiters and subsequently committed, signed and took their talents to the next level. It’s a pretty expansive list and one that is quite impressive to say the least!
