Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year, we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Special thank you to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season and for the high school coaches who nominated their players for this award.

Continuing from last year, we will also be highlighting other players from across the state in our Alabama Diamond Notes that we will release each Tuesday. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week.

+ 3B/RHP Braden Booth (2024) is highly-regarded as one of the top two-way prospects in the state, regardless of graduating class, and has really helped the Bob Jones Patriots get off to another strong start to the 2023 season. The Patriots, who currently sit at 6-1, played some tough teams in their first week and a half including partaking in the PBR AL Kickoff Classic. Over the past 10 days, the Mississippi State recruit has gotten off to a blistering start at the plate while going 12-23 (.522) with three doubles, a home run, eight runs driven in, nine runs scored, three walks, and also swiped three bags on the bases. Booth, the No. 3-ranked prospect in the junior class in AL, will look to continue to be a key piece for the Patriots both at the plate and on the mound this spring.
