The Corona Del Sol Aztecs are coming off a solid season after losing in the Quarter Finals to Hamilton Huskies. Returning on the mound for the Aztecs is senior LHP Cole Carlon. Carlon is the #13 ranked prospect and #2 ranked LHP in the state of Arizona. Carlon made tremendous strides this past fall, where he pitched for the Arizona Diamondbacks scout team. The Diamondbacks scout team is made up of the top players in the state, as they compete against the top local junior colleges in the Phoenix region. On the mound Carlon stands at 6-foot-4 185 pounds, with a FB sitting 90-92, and an arm action that will make any left handed hitter uneasy. Doing the catching for Carlon and the Aztec staff, is senior leader Landon Springmeyer. Springmeyer is the #45 ranked prospect in the 2023 class, and has everything you want in a player behind the dish, the ability to catch and throw, block, be vocal and has shown to have a high level baseball IQ. While Springmeyer is currently uncommitted we see him finding a home for the fall of 2023 this spring. At the plate the Aztecs bring back Justin Corless, Zane Coggins and Jaiden Lo Re. Corless, who is also one of the pitchers for Corona, will be the muscle to the Aztec offense. The right handed hitter is ranked #28 in the state and for good reason. Corless has the ability to lose a baseball at any moment and be a momentum changer for the Aztecs offense. In the field you will likely see Corless on the corners, whether it’s in the outfield or the infield. While it’s still unknown who will be the starting shortstop for the Aztecs, we project that the middle of the field will be a combination of senior Zane Coggins and Arizona State commit sophomore Jaiden Lo Re. With veteran depth on the mound and in the field, the Aztecs will be top contenders for a state title in the 2023 season. While the spring season is looking bright for the Aztecs, some newcomers to look forward to include Parker Williamson, Carter Jacobson, and Jaxen Maxey. The Arizona Staff is looking forward to following Corona Del Sol as they go into the 2023 camplain.
