Colorado State Games - Quick Hits

On August 8th and 9th, the PBR Colorado staff was at Metro State University in Denver, Colorado hosting the annual Colorado State Games. The event had around 100 top prospects from the classes of 2024-2027 in the state, let’s dive in. 

 

 

Eddison Esquivel OF / 1B / Cherry Creek , CO / 2024

Esquivel was a standout at the event thanks to a 103.8 mph top exit-velocity and an 88 mph outfield velocity. The Cherry Creek senior is ranked as the 3rd best outfielder in the 2024 Colorado class, and he is committed to play baseball at the University of San Francisco after graduation. Strong left-handed swing with the ability to lift and drive the baseball. 

 

 

 

 

 

David Ada 3B / RHP / Falcon, CO / 2025

Ada was constantly finding barrels during the games at the event while posting over a 96 mph top exit-velocity. The junior is a polished hitter with a knack for working the count and finding the sweet spot. Line drive swing with the ability to lift the baseball, one of the better uncommitted hit tools left in the 2025 class. Also has upside on the mound. 

 

 

 

 

 

Wyatt Waterhouse SS / 3B / Prairie View, CO / 2024

The uncommitted senior flashed some upside in the games thanks to a stand-up double to left-center in his first at-bat of the event. Found the barrel multiple times and played a clean infield. Athletic player with a line drive swing while topping out at a 90.9 mph exit-velocity. 

 

 

 

 

 

Carson Munroe RHP / SS / Chaparral, CO / 2026

Munroe showed his athleticism on the mound ramping the fastball up to 88 mph with a quality curveball and changeup. The sophomore has a loose and whippy arm action with the ability to generate swings and misses on all three pitches. Quality feel for the zone. Wiry frame that should keep getting stronger. 

 

 

 

 

 

Parker Aaron C / 2B / Horizon , CO / 2025

Aaron led the way for the catchers in this event while posting a 1.81 pop time and an 85 mph top catching velocity on his throws. The uncommitted 2025 also posted a 96 mph max exit-velocity with a 60 yard dash just under a 7.00. High follow as a switch-hitting catcher with feel and upside. 

 

 

 

 

 

John Rossi OF / SS / Eaglecrest , CO / 2024

Rossi is an athlete all around with quality bat-to-ball skills. The left-handed hitter ran a 6.85 60 yard dash and found the barrel multiple times during the games. Rossi is just beginning to tap into his upside as he should only keep getting stronger and filling out his frame. 

 

 

 

 

 

Cory Dean Carver SS / OF / Montezuma Cortez , CO / 2026

Carver is the 2nd ranked shortstop in the 2026 Colorado class and showcased quite well during the event. The sophomore ran a 6.94 60 yard dash, posted a 93.7 mph max exit-velocity, and threw into the mid 80s at both shortstop and in the outfield. Carver was also a standout in the game as he hit himself on base multiple times and showed speed with quality instincts on the base-paths. 

 

 

 

Darren Daves C / OF / Montezuma-Cortez , CO / 2026

Daves got up to a 90 mph outfield velocity while maxing out at a 93.2 mph exit-velocity in the event with a 6.96 60 yard dash time. The sophomore projects quite well across the board and can play outfield or catcher. Quality left-handed swing with some strength and bat speed. 

 

 

 

 

 

Karter Vega-Hernandez SS / 2B / Fountain-Fort Carson , CO / 2026

Vega-Hernandez is quite the athlete with some real feel in the infield and upside on the mound. The sophomore made standout plays during the games at infield while getting the fastball up to 83 mph on the mound with a curveball and changeup. Strong follow to see how he develops on either side of the ball. 

 

 

 

 

 

Jackson Niederwerder MIF / SS / Loveland, CO / 2024

The uncommitted senior flashed a fastball at 88 mph with a deceptive changeup and curveball. Niederwerder has also gotten his max exit-velocity up to 97 mph while playing a clean infield. The upside on Niederwerder is actively developing as he goes into his senior season. 

 

 

 

 

 

Frank Flores Jr. RHP / SS / Air Academy, CO / 2024

Flores ramped things up to 87 mph on the mound with a swing and miss slider during the games. Strong and athletic frame that is actively developing. 

 

 

 

 

 

Ethin Woltz RHP / 1B / Cherokee Trail, CO / 2025

Woltz is a physical presence on the mound with a fastball, slider, and changeup mix. Topped out at 87 on the mound with an up-tempo delivery and a strong feel for the zone. Quality follow for an uncommitted 2025. 

 

 

 

 

 

Cole Honick RHP / OF / Rocky Mountain, CO / 2024

Honick flashed his athleticism all around by getting up to 86 mph on the mound, 92 mph from the outfield, and posting a 93 mph max exit-velocity with the bat. What really stands out on the senior is that his spin rate on the off-speed has gotten up to around 3,000 RPMs at times with real feel. Strong follow on the mound as an uncommitted senior. 

 

 

 

 

 

Connor Brennan LHP / 1B / Eaglecrest, CO / 2025

Brennan was a standout left-handed arm at the event and he also belted a home run. The junior has upside on the mound with feel of three pitches and a top velocity of 85 mph from the games. Intriguing follow on the mound for an uncommitted 2025. 

 

 

 

 

 

Rylen Renton C / Windsor, CO / 2024

Renton showcased another strong max exit-velocity over 99 mph in this event. The senior catcher has fluid mechanics behind the plate and got down to a 1.88 best pop time. Plenty of whip in the swing with a strong lower half, stays through the baseball well. Strong uncommitted senior catcher.  

 

 

 

Caleb Korth LHP / 1B / Ponderosa , CO / 2026

The sophomore topped out at a 99.8 mph max exit-velocity in this event while creating leverage with the lower half along with bat speed. Korth is also a left-handed thrower on the mound with feel and upside. Attacks the zone with all three pitches. 

 


 

 

 

 

Kolton Hicks C / OF / Fruita Monument, CO / 2024

The College of Southern Idaho commit put all of his tools on display in this event. Hicks posted over a 97 mph top exit-velocity with a 6.89 60 yard dash as a catcher. The senior has quality instincts behind the plate with strong mechanics. We saw Hicks find the barrel plenty of times in his two games and also ran the bases exceptionally well. Hicks is an athlete all around with a strong feel for the game. 

 

 

 

Marcus Hull RHP / 3B / Windsor , CO / 2026

The sophomore was able to ramp his fastball up to 85 mph during the games to go along with a deceptive slider. Hull has a short arm swing and models his fastball and slider on a similar plane to generate whiffs. Quality follow on the mound to see how he continues to develop. 

 

 

 

 

 

Mason Griffin OF / RHP / Fossil Ridge , CO / 2025

Griffin was a standout as an outfielder in this event. The physical athlete has an easy swing from the left-side with developing power. We saw Griffin drive multiple baseballs during the games, and the two-sport athlete (also plays football) also got up to a 95.5 max exit-velocity during batting practice. Griffin is a quality follow as he is actively developing on the baseball field. 

 

 

 

 

Chase Kessler C / 3B / Falcon, CO / 2024

The senior racked up the hits in the state games with some quality swings and plate coverage from the left-side. Kessler had over a 90 mph max exit-velocity during batting practice and showcased a top pop time of 1.91 behind the dish. Quality follow as an uncommitted senior catcher. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Colton Rowan OF / Erie, CO / 2024

Rowan led the event in the speed category thanks to a 6.71 60 yard dash. The senior was also a pest on the base-paths during the games, at one point he stole second and third-base consecutively. Rowan also posted an 89 mph max exit-velocity while playing a clean outfield. 

 

 

 

 

Ryan Brennan 3B / C / Cherry Creek, CO / 2025

Brennan has strong feel in the infield and also maxed out at an 88 mph infield velocity. The junior is a quality follow as he was able to register a 92 mph max exit-velocity with the bat as well.
