The spring 2024 rankings update consists of 175 players from the Colorado 2024 class. This group of prospects includes ~150 college commits in total, 30+ division I commits, and still plenty of top uncommitted talent available. When creating our rankings, we consider various factors, such as skills, physical abilities, potential, projection, and on-field performance as well.

As the CHSAA spring season begins, we are excited to see how these players develop and are constantly looking for new talent within our state. We understand that each player progresses at their own pace, and we will update the rankings throughout the year. It's important to remember that each player has their journey, and the ultimate goal should always be to strive for continuous improvement.

THE BIG 3:

Trey Gregory-Alford RHP / Coronado, CO / 2024 Trey comes off of a summer and fall where he built a ton of momentum nationally. The physical right-hander is committed to Virginia and showcases a unique fastball in the upper 90s with around 2600 rpms of spin. The senior was also selected to the Team USA u18 roster this summer and already has a start under his belt this spring with 3 innings, 6 strikeouts, and no hits allowed. Trey is a very close watch at the moment and the market for his draft stock continues to surge with his potential to hit triple-digits on the fastball.

Athan Kroll RHP / Valor Christian , CO / 2024 Kroll is one of the top athletes in the state and comes with exceptional pitchability on the mound. The Dallas Baptist commit has produced a fastball in the mid 90s (~2500 rpms), a strong curveball with around 2600 rpms of spin, a deceptive slider, and a quality changeup. Kroll also helped lead his Valor Christian program to a 5A state championship last spring. The senior has a very high ceiling and could make plenty of noise once again in 2024.

Mitch Haythorn RHP / 1B / Eaton , CO / 2024 Haythorn continues to impress with higher level pitchability thanks to a strong showing at this year's Prep Baseball Super 60 event. The senior has great feel for his full arsenal with advanced placement on an elite slider he tunnels well with his fastball in the low 90s. Haythorn's slider usually sits around 2600-2800 rpms and is already considered to be a next-level off-speed pitch. Haythorn is likely to have a massive 2024 and should be able to build even more momentum.

TOP RISERS:

Frank Flores Jr. RHP / SS / Air Academy, CO / 2024 Flores continues to rise up the rankings after ramping the fastball up to 92 mph during this year's preseason All-State event. The senior is due for a huge spring and already has one start in 2024 with 5 innings, 9 Ks, and only 1 hit allowed. A name to circle at the moment.

Jackson Niederwerder RHP / SS / Loveland, CO / 2024 Jackson also had a fantastic showing at this year's preseason All-State event with a fastball topping out at 92 mph. The senior has a strong and athletic frame and continues to develop his arsenal. Jackson is able to spin his breaking ball over 2300 rpms and has feel for a plus changeup as well. One to watch closely in 2024.

Cael Clancy RHP / Cherry Creek, CO / 2024 Clancy comes with a quality arsenal and flashed some strong mound presence against a tough team already early this spring. The Southeast CC commit was up to 88 mph in his first outing and struckout the side in a bases loaded jam to force extra-innings. Clancy has some true closer-type upside and should be able to develop well at the next level.

Logan Gross RHP / SS / Rifle, CO / 2024 Gross is headed to Colorado Mesa University after this spring to play both football and baseball for the Division II program. The senior is physical and athletic while flashing some true feel on the baseball field. Last season as a junior, Gross hit .403 with 21 stolen bases and also chucked 46 innings, struckout 96 batters and held down a 2.59 ERA.

Elias Frainier 1B / RHP / Columbine , CO / 2024 Frainier is an intriguing uncommitted 2024 prospect who continues to move up the board. We have seen the 6'6" athlete get up to over a 101 mph top exit velocity from the left-side with a 78 mph bat speed and a 7.08 60 yard dash time. Frainier projects for a strong spring in '24 and already has a .929 OPS across his first few games.

TOP NEWCOMERS:

Cam Kennedy CF / Grandview, CO / 2024 The senior has a physical swing from the left-side and a projectable athletic frame. Uncommitted player to watch who already has a homerun under his belt in his first spring game.

Braeden McCarroll RHP / OF / Golden, CO / 2024 The two-way athlete is still uncommitted and has put together strong showings as an upperclassman. Last spring as a junior, McCarroll hit .417 with 4 homers, a 1.222 OPS, and 7 stolen bases. McCarroll also tossed 42 innings with 59 Ks in 2023. This spring, McCarroll has hit for a .333 average with a homerun, and he's been fantastic on the mound with 11 innings pitched, 19 strikeouts, 3 hits, and no runs allowed. Worth a close watch as an uncommitted '24 prospect.

Tyler Weston RHP / OF / Cherry Creek, CO / 2024 Weston is another player who flourished in his first appearance of 2024 with a fastball up to 89 mph. The senior flashed some quality pitchability with a slider he could use for deception and in the strikezone for whiffs. Actively developing 2024 name to know.
