Colorado Power 25 Rankings: Week 2

Caleb Dameron
Prep Baseball Colorado Staff

On Thursday, March 7th the Colorado spring season began play for all 5A-1A baseball programs. We continue our CHSAA Power 25 rankings with a look at how the teams have produced through the first two weeks. The Prep Baseball Colorado staff has diligently scouted players and teams throughout this spring, and will continue to work hard to bring the state top notch coverage on the baseball diamond. Colorado is flourishing with high-end baseball talent at the moment and is starting to gather more and more national recognition as well. We hope to continue all momenutum in the state while making an impact on the players and teams within.

#1 LEGEND TITANS (3-0)

The Legend program holds down the #1 spot in the power rankings after two weeks of play. The Titans are 3-0 within Colorado, including solid wins against Chatfield and Ralston Valley. This team has plenty of depth along with high-end prospects that should be able to make a meaningful impact all season long. Jack Perotti, Tyler Houston, Tyler Harvey, and Tony Slizowski should all be tough arms for any team to beat this spring while 7 of the regular starters in this lineup have a .400 batting average or better to start the season (Meuli, Stahl, Meissner, Berard, Lincoln, Utz, and Fladebo).

#2 CHAPARRAL WOLVERINES (6-1)

Chaparral has played more games than alot of teams in Colorado at the moment, but they have certainly taken care of business. This squad's only loss so far came from out of state to Sunnyslope HS in Arizona. The Wolverines have won some close games, and also put up some big scores with 11 runs against Denver East, 12 runs against Boulder Creek, and 12 runs against Willow Canyon. Chaparral has a well rounded group for 2024 along with some potential carriers in guys like; Cole Jenkins, Derek Ball, and Carson Munroe.

#18 PONDEROSA MUSTANGS (5-2)

Ponderosa cracks this week's power 25 rankings thanks to a strong showing across their first two weeks of play. The only two losses for the Mustangs came from out of state to La Habra and Sunnyslope in Arizona. This program does already have some quality wins within Colorado since they've beaten Fruita Monument and Palisade so far. If the pitching can continue to hold things down for Ponderosa, then we could see them continue their success having already 6 of their regular starters in the lineup hitting well over .300 right now. Ponderosa does have a gauntlent of a schedule coming up, so we will know exactly where the Mustangs are at in the coming weeks.
