Colorado Preseason All-State: Quick Hits

On Sunday, February 25th, the Prep Baseball Colorado staff hosted the Colorado Preseason All-State at The Farm Sports in Colorado Springs. This event featured ~170 prospects from the 2024 - 2027 classes and allowed our staff an opportunity to get an in-depth look at the players in attendance. Today we'll conclude our post-event content with this Quick Hits story.

Ethin Woltz RHP / 1B / Cherokee Trail, CO / 2025

Woltz got the fastball up to 89 mph in this event with more of a unique look. The junior comes in at 6'4'' and also creates 16 IVB (induced vertical break) on his fastball to give it plenty of life and ride through the zone. The spin rate is also there for Woltz (~2300 rpms on both fastball and curveball) to give him even more upside. Woltz is worth a close watch for 2024 as an uncommitted junior. 

Chris Jewett RHP / 1B / Legacy, CO / 2025

Jewett is another tall and strong uncommitted right-handed arm who had the fastball up over 88 mph. The junior comes with some long legs and arms with a projectable frame overall. Jewett also flashed upside and confidence with his slider in this event. 

Anthony Graziano RHP / C / Cherry Creek, CO / 2025

Graziano continues to develop with quality all-around stuff. The uncommitted junior has a fastball around 87 mph that sits around 2300 rpms with a 15 average IVB. Graziano can also spin the slider over 2300 rpms and has feel for his changeup with 11 inches of average horizontal movement and only ~1200 rpms of spin. 

Jason Olsen SS / 2B / Legacy, CO / 2025

Olsen has impressed lately on the mound thanks to a fastball up to around 87 mph with quality spin around 2300 rpms. The tall, athletic, and wiry frame on Olsen is easy to dream on for future development, but he is also flashing plenty of upside with his arsenal already. Olsen can spin his slider over 2500 rpms, his curveball over 2300 rpms, and has feel for a changeup. Another uncommitted junior to keep a close eye on this spring. 

Ross Frank RHP / C / Rocky Mountain, CO / 2025

Frank comes with some two-way upside and plenty of tools. The catcher produced a 93 mph top exit-velocity in this event with a 1.84 top pop time, and a 78 mph catcher velocity. We also saw Frank get up to 87 mph on the mound with quality off-speeds. Frank hit .333 with a HR, and a 1.017 OPS last spring (47 PAs) to go with his 53.2 IP, 65 Ks, and a 2.48 ERA on the mound. Strong uncommitted follow. 

Wyatt Waterhouse SS / 3B / Prairie View, CO / 2024

Waterhouse comes with a 91 mph top exit-velocity and some athleticism in the infield. We can also tell you that Waterhouse hit .379 with 2 home runs, a 1.052 OPS, and 9 steals (82 PAs) in spring '23. Uncommitted senior worth a follow. 

Giovanni Tarin OF / OF / Prairie View, CO / 2025

Tarin posted a 92 mph top exit-velocity, a 72 mph bat speed, and an 81 mph outfield velocity in this event. The athletic outfielder flashes quality center field abilities and instincts with a developing bat. Tarin already has plenty of 5A varsity experience and could be in for a big spring in 2024. 

Henry O'Rear C / RHP / Denver East, CO / 2025

O'Rear produced some impressive hitting metrics in this event as an uncommitted catching prospect. The junior popped a 102.4 top exit-velocity with a 92.2 mph average exit-velocity, and a 72 mph bat speed. Behind the dish we saw O'Rear go for a 1.90 top pop time and a 75 mph throwing velocity. 

Blake Young OF / RHP / Mullen , CO / 2025

Young is actively developing with some quality tools already. The tall, wiry, and athletic frame on Young has helped him manage a 6.84 60 yard dash time, a 100 mph top exit-velocity, an 80 mph bat speed, 86 mph outfield velocity, and a fastball over 82 mph on the mound. One to watch closely this spring. 

Xander Meissner 3B / RHP / Legend, CO / 2024

The Bethany commit had a strong showing in this event thanks to his 102.1 mph top exit-velocity from the left-side, an 80 mph bat speed, 84 mph infield velocity, and a fastball around 84 mph on the mound as well. Meissner has a tall and strong frame that should get even bigger at the next level, giving him quite the ceiling in the near future. 

Darren Daves SS / OF / Montezuma-Cortez , CO / 2026

Daves is a strong and versatile player with plenty of tools. In this event, Daves posted a 99.4 mph top exit-velocity from the left-side with a 93.3 mph average exit-velocity and a 73 mph bat speed. The sophomore also ran a 6.96 60 yard dash with an 86 mph infield velocity and a 92 mph outfield velocity. Daves is worth a close follow as he is actively developing as an underclassman and has already posted some staggering numbers at the 3A level in Colorado. 

Cory Dean Carver SS / 3B / Montezuma Cortez , CO / 2026

Cory comes with advanced feel in the infield along with quality athleticism. We have seen Cory up to a 94 mph top exit-velocity to go with his 6.94 60 yard dash, 81 mph infield velocity, and 85 mph outfield velocity. Cory also hit .486 with 36 stolen bases as a freshman last spring at the 3A level in Colorado. Close follow.
