Colorado Signing Day: Division I Power 5 Outlook

On Wednesday, November 8th, thousands of high school baseball players across the country signed their National Letters of Intent to successfully fulfill their dedication to playing baseball at the collegiate level, with hundreds of players in Colorado alone going through this process.
Over the next few days, the PBR Colorado staff will be featuring players who have signed their NLI to play baseball at the Division I level. These athletes have been rewarded for their continuous hard work and help to set a standard for future prospects in the state of Colorado. The signees will be divided into two articles, one featuring the Division I Power 5 signees, and one highlighting the Division I Mid-Major signees.

Trey Gregory-Alford RHP / Coronado, CO / 2024UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA (2023 Record: 50-15 / ACC Conference) The Cavaliers secured an extremely high-end arm when it comes to Trey Gregory-Alford. The tall and strong right-hander has been seen with his fastball up to 97 mph at times, and he has a true breaking ball sitting around 2500-2700 RPMs. Gregory-Alford was also selected for the Team USA 18U roster this summer. The draft stock on Gregory-Alford could continue to surge early in 2024 as he is still actively developing into a very high ceiling.

Mitch Haythorn RHP / 1B / Eaton , CO / 2024UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA (2023 Record: 32-28 / Big 12 Conference) Haythorn made plenty of noise during the 2022 Future Games as the now Oklahoma Sooner commit presented an elite slider that he can spin into the 2600s with sharp action. The senior also comes with a quality fastball that he's gotten up to 90 mph with spin around 2400 RPMs. Haythorn is able to tunnel both his fastball and off-speed exceptionally well already, and struckout 113 batters in 51.1 innings this spring en route to a 10-0 record and a 0.82 ERA.

Dane Most 3B / 2B / Broomfield, CO / 2024UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA (2023 Record: 33-23-1 / Big Ten Conference) Most is signed to play baseball at the University of Nebraska after this spring, and the infielder comes with some strong hit and fielding tools. We have seen the exit-velocity on Most get up to 94 mph while he has an 86 mph top velocity from the infield. Most is still developing and hit .415 with a 1.039 OPS (82 at-bats) this spring in one of the toughest conferences in Colorado. Nebraska and the Big Ten should be a fine fit for Most as he is already accustomed to hitting in the colder weather in spring thanks to playing numerous games of the like here in Colorado.

Andrew Bell SS / 2B / Regis Jesuit, CO / 2024DUKE UNIVERSITY (2023 Record: 39-24 / ACC Conference) There is no shortage of high-end tools when it comes to Andrew Bell. The Duke commit runs a 6.42 60 yard dash, hits for over a 105 mph exit-velocity, and throws 87 mph across the diamond in the infield. We also saw Bell break-out with the bat in spring 2023 at a larger sample size (94 at-bats) thanks to a .436 average, 8 home runs, 12 stolen bases, and a 1.344 OPS in 5A Colorado. The sky is the limit for Bell as long as he continues to sharpen his tools to prepare for the next level.

Brock Lansville RHP / SS / Thunder Ridge, CO / 2024UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS (2023 Record: 25-32 / Big 12 Conference) Lansville showed off a quality three pitch mix as a 2022 Future Gamer. The strong frame on Lansville has helped him ramp the fastball up to around 88 mph to go with his curveball and changeup. The senior has the ability to generate whiffs on all three pitches and should build momentum in spring 2024 before heading off to Kansas and the Big 12.
