With our third 2024 Season Preview, we shift to Division II as we take a look at the Kalaheo High School program who finished 2023 with a record of 4-8. As the Mustangs look to flip their record into the winning column in 2024, they have several out-of-state transfers that will step onto campus and look to make an immediate impact. The team, led by Head Coach Rocky Fraticelli, gets their season underway this coming Friday as they play host to Wai'anae. Below, we break down the program and what to look out for this coming season.

High School: Kalaheo High School
Coach: Rocky Fraticelli
HHSAA Classification: Division II
Conference: Oahu II
2023 Record: 4-8

Returning Strengths/Players: The Mustangs biggest returning contributor comes from '24 RHP/INF Eric Hufstetler who provides value on both sides of the ball. With a bunch of new faces in the lineup, the veterean will look to lead the team with his on-field performance, as well as in the locker room and in the dugout as he takes the field for his third and final season with the Mustangs.

Top Newcomers: Kalaheo brings in a trio impactful newcomers and each provide versatility that will be welcomed throughout the season. '25 C/RHP/INF Ben Taylor and '27 SS/C/RHP Andrew Taylor both join the squad from Torrey Pines HS in San Diego and will look to make a good first impression in Hawaii with their two-way abilities. The team also welcomes to '26 RHP/C/INF/OF Malachi Bell from North Carolina who's athletic abilities allow to him to take the field at nearly every position.

Kalaheo's team that takes the field Friday on Opening Night will look a lot different than the one that took the field for the final game of 2023. The Mustangs will be a team to keep an eye on early in the season as the newcomers look to establish himself within their new program and propel the team to their first winning season since 2016.
