MOKAN Preseason All-State Spotlight: Anthony Alvarez

As we quickly approach our most talented event of the year, the MOKAN Preseason All-State, PBR Kansas will highlight some of the top players already slated to be at the event. Today, we take an in-depth look at 2024 INF Anthony Alvarez. The quick twitch and lean outfielder is a smooth runner who will likely continue to see his 60 time drop as he builds strength in his lower half. Offensively, the left-handed hitter uses his wiry 6-foot, 160-pound frame to flash some pull side pop with exit velos close to 93 mph. Alvarez will look to show off additional size and strength at the upcoming MOKAN Preseason All-State.

Hits: LHH. Balanced, wide setup. Quiet actions pre-pitch. Small leg kick load and stride. Back foot finish. Level, line-drive swing plane. Shows some hand speed through the zone. Consistent hard contact to mid/pull side.
Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 84.3 MPH. 331' max distance.

Body: 6-0, 150-pounds. Lean, wiry frame with present athleticism. Room to add strength.
Hits: LHH. Balanced, athletic setup with rhythm in his hands pre-pitch. Controlled leg kick, working into his back hip and using his lower half. Back foot finish. Uphill swing plane, generating some barrel whip through the zone. Consistent line-drives to his mid/pull side.
Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 78.5 MPH. 325' max distance.
Arm: RH. Short, low 3/4 arm action with carry.
Defense: Quick, active footwork around and through the ball. Clean gather out front with quick exchange and a developing release.
