Preseason Preview: North Bullitt HS

The North Bullitt Eagles completed their 2012 season with a 20-19 record under head coach Brian Wise, advancing out of the 24th District Tournament before losing to DeSales in the first round of the 6th Region tournament.  The Eagles return 7 starters and 4 pitchers from last year’s squad with a nice mix of upperclassmen and some talented young players.

The Eagles offense will be led by senior shortstop Clayton Kelly, a Murray State recruit who hit .459 with 6 HR’s last season, senior outfielder Tyler Lloyd, a Pikeville recruit who led the team in RBI’s, and junior second baseman Justin Stinson, who struck out only 5 times last season and played stellar defense.  Look for contributions to also come from sophomore catcher Chance Egnor, and freshman 3B/1B, Logan Wyatt.

The pitching staff will be led by senior Cody Stinnett, a 4 year starter who led the team in wins and strikeouts last season.  A couple of pitchers who were impressive at our Pre-Season All State Showcase will give the Eagles a deep and talented staff.  Junior RHP Josh Exton and sophomore LHP Jacob Kelly were recently featured as two of the top pitchers in their respective classes at the event.

Look for North Bullitt to improve upon last season’s 20-19 campaign.  We fully expect them to be in the mix for a run at the 6th region this spring.  The Eagles open up their season at Oldham County on March 18.
