The Top 5

The Top 5 has again undergone some minor changes after the third week of the high school season, as the Top 3 teams remain intact from last week.  Catholic BR is our #1 team, for the fourth consecutive week, after another impressive 3-0 week, which brings their season record to a perfect 12-0.  After beating St. Charles Catholic in their mid-week matchup, the Bears defeated Live Oak on Thursday by a score of 4-1 and on Saturday by a score of 11-1.  Sam Houston checks in at #2, after starting district play last week, where they picked up a couple of close wins over Acadiana, by a score of 2-1 in each ballgame.  The Broncos will be tested this week, as they meet up with their district-rival Barbe on Thursday and Saturday.  For the second consecutive week, Natchitoches Central remains at the #3 spot in our Power 25 Rankings.  The Chiefs were undefeated going into Saturday, but fell to Alexandria, by a score of 3-0, to bring their season record to 11-1.  Benton moves up six spots this week to #4, after a perfect 4-0 week, bringing their overall record to 12-2.  The Tigers open up district play with a big two-game series against Natchitoches Central, with Game 1 on Thursday and Game 2 on Saturday.  St. Amant moves up three spots to #5 this week and currently own a 12-3 overall record.  The Gators dropped a game to Ponchatoula last Tuesday, before reeling off four straight wins over Vandebilt Catholic, Destrehan, Ruston, and Mandeville.

Risers

Parkway moves up nine spots to #6 overall, after going 2-1 last week.  The Panthers defeated Sterlington 6-4 on Tuesday, before splitting their weekend series against Central BR.  Senior RHP Colton Smith, a Jones College recruit, improved his record to 4-0 on the year, after tossing a complete game one-hit shutout with 10 K's against Central BR on Saturday.

+ Covington makes their Power 25 Rankings debut this week at the #15 spot.  The Lions are currently 10-3 with key wins over John Curtis, St. Amant, and Dutchtown so far this season.

+ Brusly continues to climb our Power 25 Rankings and move up another seven spots this week to #14 overall.  The Panthers are currently 12-1 and went 4-0 last week, outscoring their opponents 35 to 4.
