John Carroll
Sean Fasano SS John Carroll 2020
Athletic switch-hitting middle infielder for John Carroll. Transfer student from Italy, came to the United States to play college baseball. Hits from a balanced, athletic, open stance from the left side. Slight toe tap load with nice hand separation. Short, compact, level swing path with some bat speed and stays behind the ball well. Great feel for the barrel and uses the whole field with ease. Similar comps from the right side but a more uphill swing path. Strong lower half involvement. Went 1-for-3 at the plate against McDonogh in game one with an opposite field double from the left side, a walk, and scored twice. Fluid footwork and actions in the field and around the bag at second base. Huge upside and intriguing under the radar prospect just jumping on the scene.
Tyler Leach C John Carroll 2020
Strong, power hitting catcher. Hits in the middle of the order and is having a great season for the Patriots offensively. Starts from a balanced, athletic stance and has a smooth back load. Swings with intent and showed fast bat speed and strong lower half involvement. Stays behind the ball well and drives gaps. Short, compact, slightly uphill swing with nice extension. Big time uncommitted bat to jump on now.
Gavin Wingard OF John Carroll 2020
Athletic, long and lanky body type. Hits from a balanced, athletic, slightly open stance at the plate. Quick rock back load onto back side. Creates some hand separation and lands front toe slightly inverted at foot strike. Has a tendency to get slightly uphill at contact at times and showed a quick, level swing with some lower half involvement.
McDonogh
Everett Cooper SS McDonogh 2022
Athletic switch-hitting shortstop with a ton of upside. Plays loose defensively with quick, clean exchanges and good footwork around the bag. Hits from an athletic, open stance from both sides of the plate. High leg kick load with nice hand separation. Short swing with quick hands and fast bat speed. Showed more of an uphill swing path from the left side. Keeps it compact and stays behind the ball well. Big time prospect to watch in the 2022 class.
Kris Jenner RHP McDonogh 2020
Tall, athletic body type and projectable frame. Leg kick loads to a compact balance point with hands set low at belt. Long, clean arm action with quick arm speed through release. Works downhill and lands square to the plate with strong lower half drive. Gets over front side well with an athletic finish. Throws with easy effort from a high three-quarter arm slot. Worked five innings against John Carroll striking out five batters and threw 67% of his pitches for strikes. Fastball sat 80-82 mph and touched 83 mph. Breaking ball showed gradual 12/6 shape at 61-65 mph. Interesting arm that is having a great year for the Eagles on the mound.
Logan Lach OF McDonogh 2019
Athletic 6'1'', 190 pound outfielder that can run. Made several outstanding catches on balls in front and over his head saving multiple runs. Backed a great day in the field up with a solid day at the plate. Drove one down the left field line that hit the foul pole for a home run and went 2-for-2 on the day with a walk, 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Hits from a balanced, athletic, square stance at the plate. Medium sized leg kick and slight rock back load. Short, compact line drive swing with some pop.
Matt Spind LHP/1B McDonogh 2019 (Bates College)
Projectable lefty with a strong, solid body. Controlled leg kick to balance position. Strong down-to-out lower half drive. Lands square to the plate with and athletic finish. Gets over front side well and struck out two in one inning of work. Mixed his pitches very well and showed good command. Throws with long arm action from a high three-quarters slot with easy effort. Hits from the right side in a balanced, slightly crouched stance with a wide base. Showed some rhythm in load with an average stride length. Shorter, level swing path with some bat speed.
Kyle Whitaker 3B/1B McDonogh 2020
Big, strong, physically imposing body type and 6'2'', 225 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, slightly closed stance at the plate. Quick, medium sized leg kick with some hand separation. Short to the ball with a more level swing path. Showed quick hands and fast bat speed. Big time strength and power are present as the ball jumps off the bat with ease. Having a great year offensively for McDonogh and is throwing up big power numbers hitting in the middle of their order. Very intriguing prospect and one of the loudest bats in the 2020 class by far.
