MARYLAND PRIVATE SCHOOL Preseason 6-10

Rank High School Conference
6 DeMatha Catholic WCAC
7 Good Counsel WCAC
8 Loyola Blakefield MIAA A
9 Landon IAC
10 Archbishop Curley MIAA A

No. 6 DeMatha Catholic

The stags enter 2024 with depth and exciting talent on both sides of the ball that should bode well for a deep run in a highly competitive conference that is the WCAC. Led by experienced seniors in Tommy Dietrich, John DiMarsico, Manny Hall, Wesley Hall and Niko Long, as well as two of the top offensive juniors in the state in Johnathan Coombs and Brooks Franklin, the Stags look to take that next step this spring.

No. 7 Good Counsel

A new spring season brings new leadership to the forefront for almost every program each year, and that is true for the Falcons in 2024. Senior southpaw Jake Plainte will look to take over the "ace" role on the bump this spring with talented depth provided by three fellow seniors in Ethan Bell, Alex Bergen and Brandon Davis. Look for the smooth swinging lefty shortstop in Jackson Inman to lead the offense and have a breakout year for coach Ballance at the dish. Talent, depth and experience on both sides of the ball should see the Falcons make a deep run in the WCAC this spring.

No. 8 Loyola Blakefield

At No. 8, we jump to the MIAA A Conference and highlight an intriguing Loyola Blakefield Dons team. If the Dons are to be successful this spring, look for junior Joe Nottingham to dominate on the bump and solidify the notion that the hard-throwing righty is one of the top prep arms in the state. An offense that has no shortage of power throughout the lineup, look for big seasons from senior Jacob Hauk and junior Michael DelGaudio to lead the charge.

No. 9 Landon

The departure of two-way standout Nate Rosner will not be an easy replacement heading into 2024, however the Bears return a slew of highly talented players on both sides of the ball for first year head coach Henry Martinez. Coach Martinez will have the luxury of handing the ball to one of the top one-two punches in the state, as senior James Pedas and junior Sam Rosand will be at the forefront of a talented rotation. Offensive depth is certainly something to key in on, as senior Jay Adams and junior George Lee will bring some firepower throughout. Also keep eyes on a talented foursome of sophomores that are on the brink of breakout years in Joshua Burstein, Zachary Burstein, James Gibson and Bo White.

No. 10 Archbishop Curley

The Friars enter 2024 with no shortage of senior led talent on both sides of the ball and will look to utilize their experience to find success throughout a highly talented MIAA A Conference. Pitching depth is at the forefront, led by seniors Anthony Cerone, Hunter Layhew, Carson Eddy, Austn Sealing and junior Nathaniel Welkos. The departures of key bats in Harry Middlebrooks and John Petryszak are certainly big hits for coach Gaetas offense, however look for Layhew, Sealing, Derek Poole and Ryan Parks to have big seasons at the dish for the Friars.
