Over the next few weeks, leading up to the beginning of the 2024 MD High School season, our staff will be releasing our Preseason Power 25. This list will be comprised of public schools across the state that we feel have a strong chance of being successful in 2024. Throughout the coming weeks, be on the lookout for our MD Public School Top 10, as well as a slew of additional preseason coverage.    

#12 Patuxent Panthers 

A perennial powerhouse across the 2A, Patuxent enters the spring season looking to finally get over the hump and win a state title in 2024. Depth is at the forefront for coach Powell's squad, and we anticipate yet another deep run for the Panthers this spring.

A very strong senior duo on the bump in Will Hagan (Chesapeake JC) and Billy Clay (Chesapeake JC) should provide the Panthers with the opportunity to match up with just about anybody across the SMAC, with strong depth provided by an exciting junior lefty in Ivan Sypa. A program that is not afraid to play small ball, look for a little more thump in the lineup in 2024, as sophomore Logan Powell looks to bring firepower in the middle of the order and make a statement as being one of the top 2026's across the state.
