Over the next few weeks, leading up to the beginning of the 2024 MD High School season, our staff will be releasing our Preseason Power 25. This list will be comprised of public schools across the state that we feel have a strong chance of being successful in 2024. Throughout the coming weeks, be on the lookout for our MD Public School Top 10, as well as a slew of additional preseason coverage.    

#13 Thomas Johnson Patriots 

The Patriots enter the 4A classification in 2024 and look to make a deep run this spring with a talented roster that certainly has depth on both sides of the ball.

The Patriots return their top two arms from a year ago in senior Jacob Hnath (Salisbury) and junior Logan Keepers. Senior lefty Camden Hood is also back and will be a nice look as a back end of the rotation option again this spring. 

Offensively, TJ loses a fairly high amount of impact bats from last year including Luke Chappell, Mikhai Evans, Ty Allen and Ben Pearch. Senior Danny Orr (UMBC) is back for his senior season and being one of the top offensive threats across the state, the Patriots will need him to be his usual self to jumpstart this offense. Look for Logan Keepers and Jacob Hnath to also provide a spark throughout the lineup. 

A roster that has depth on the bump and a fairly lack of experience throughout the lineup will be interesting to watch as this spring unfolds. This program has always been a hard-nosed bunch that plays the game the right way and competes in every game. We see no difference in 2024.
