Over the next few weeks, leading up to the beginning of the 2024 MD High School season, our staff will be releasing our Preseason Power 25. This list will be comprised of public schools across the state that we feel have a strong chance of being successful in 2024. Throughout the coming weeks, be on the lookout for our MD Public School Top 10, as well as a slew of additional preseason coverage.    

# 21 Damascus Swarmin' Hornets   

The Swarmin' Hornets enter the 2024 season with a plethora of depth on both sides of the ball, including an exciting senior two-way and ace of the pitching staff in Bryce Mitchell. Mitchell will look to fill the shoes of last years ace, Darin Kuskie, who was certainly one of the top prep arms in the state just a year ago. Look for junior righty William Heyse to also provide key innings on the bump for Damascus and be a fairly solid one-two punch with Mitchell.

The offense has the makings of being highly successful this spring, led by Bryce Mitchell and strong depth provided by Anthony Gasbarre, Jake Lokos, Nicholas Torres and Cameron Wilberding. If the pitching staff can find some depth after the likes of Mitchell and Heyse and keep them in games, look for this offense to be explosive and score runs in bunches throughout the spring.
