Over the next few weeks, leading up to the beginning of the 2024 MD High School season, our staff will be releasing our Preseason Power 25. This list will be comprised of public schools across the state that we feel have a strong chance of being successful in 2024. Throughout the coming weeks, be on the lookout for our MD Public School Top 10, as well as a slew of additional preseason coverage.    

#8 Sherwood Warriors 

The Warriors have been the perennial powerhouse across the 4A for years and are the defending state champions from that classification. In 2024, however, Sherwood moves to the powerhouse that is the 3A and enters a region with the 3A State Champion from last year, River Hill. Key losses from that state championship team in Amari Allen, Ryan Bouma, Jack Andre, Brian Scott, and Ben Berger will be tough shoes to fill entering 2024, however, look for Coach Davis to have a plan entering the spring with some younger players ready to make an impact.

Senior ace Mac Crismond looks to be on the shelf with an injury to start the season, so look for fellow senior Garrett Smith to lead the staff, with nice depth provided by junior lefty Kyle Glasser and sophomore southpaw Sam Rosenwald. 

Senior Liam Irving will look to provide stability in the lineup with juniors Jacob Bagania and Ryan Rey on the brink of breakout years for the Warriors. Don't sleep on standout sophomore Carter Sweeney-Strawberry to make a huge impact at the dish this year, as the athleticism in itself should provide a spark for Coach Davis' squad this spring.

Key Players to Watch
