Over the next few weeks, leading up to the beginning of the 2024 MD High School season, our staff will be releasing our Preseason Power 25. This list will be comprised of public schools across the state that we feel have a strong chance of being successful in 2024. Throughout the coming weeks, be on the lookout for our MD Public School Top 10, as well as a slew of additional preseason coverage.    

#9 Magruder Colonels 

In a loaded classification that is the 3A in 2024, Magruder enters the spring with high hopes of making a deep run throughout not only the region but the state as a whole. Possessing some of the top offensive talent across Maryland, the Colonel's roster looks poised for a successful 2024 campaign.

Led by Hunter St Denis, Avery Grain, Terrion Pettus, Jovi Silva, and Matt Strahan, Magruder has highly touted depth throughout the lineup that should bode well for a high-powered offense. Building on varsity experience last year should allow for the likes of Silva and Strahan to take that next step this spring and look for breakout years from both.

Xavier Headen and St Denis should be the leaders on the bump this year, however, the depth behind them may be a question. If the offense becomes stagnant at times, the Colonels may find themselves in trouble, however, we don't see that coming to fruition with how talented the bats are.
