The Prep Baseball Report MN Preseason All-State event took place on Sunday, March 18, 2018. The event was held at the Vadnais Sports Center in Vadnais Heights, MN. The event featured prospects from the 2019 grad class; and included many breakout performances from this year's participants. 

There were a number of great individual performances this year at the MN Preseason All-State.

As we drill down into the statistics:

+  29 players ran sub-7.2 60's.
+  29 players recorded 85+ mph exit velocities
+  23 players recorded 80+ mph infield throws
+  21 players recorded 80+ mph outfield throws
+  19 catchers recorded 70+ mph throws to second base
+  16 catchers recorded sub-2.1 pop times
+  42 pitchers were 80+ mph on the mound

Zach Andreasen, C, Burnsville, 2019
5-foot-10, 190-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.27 runner. Compact build with present strength, square stance, heavy leg kick trigger, some length to contact, line drive swing plane, aggressive swinger, flashes pop to pull side of field, 83 mph exit velocity. Quick feet, solid/avg. receiver, avg. body control, extra movements on catch and throw, shows accuracy to bag, 70 mph arm strength with 2.09-2.28 pop times.

Nicholas Baker, C, Cloquet, 2019
5-foot-10, 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.57 runner. Slight open stance, easy stride to square, simple swing, some stiffness with high back elbow setup, clean path out front, short to contact, flashed hard pull contact, 79 mph exit velocity. Mobile behind plate, sure handed receiver, sticks pitches in zone, athletic to block, clean exchange, shorter arm action, accurate throws, 70 mph arm strength with 2.05-2.13 pop times.

Taylor Brodersen, C, Heritage Christian Academy, 2019
5-foot-11, 185-pound right-handed hitting catcher. #63 ranked player in MN 2019 class. Strong durable build. 7.47 runner. Open stance, rolling hand load, line drive swing plane, shows pop in bat to middle of field, stiffer 2 hand finish through contact, aggressive swinger, 85 mph exit velocity. Moves well behind plate with size, strong receiver, ability to block, clean exchange, solid footwork, some length to release, accurate to bag, 77 mph arm strength with 1.98-2.01 pop times.

Evan Brown, C, Benilde-St. Margaret’s, 2019
5-foot-10, 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.8 runner. Square stance, leg kick trigger, shows rhythm in hands, consistent hard contact, mid/pull approach, ground ball and line drive contact, 80 mph exit velocity. Flexible behind plate, solid receiver, length to exchange, longer arm action, 76 mph arm strength with 2.15-2.19 pop times.

Ben Cradle, C/RHP, Bloomington Kennedy, 2019
5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. #62 player in MN 2019 class. 7.91 runner. Tall narrow stance, dive bomb approach, shoulder load, clean swing plane, solid bat speed, flashes pop in bat with mid/pull approach, 84 mph exit velocity. Comfortable behind plate, solid direction on throws, clean exchange, longer arm action, accurate to bag, 74 mph arm strength with 2.09-2.22 pop times.

Joey Danielson, C, Eden Prairie, 2019
6-foot-2, 205-pound right-handed hitting catcher. #7 ranked player in MN 2019 class. Physical build with lean strength. 7.1 runner. Square stance, easy body load, clean path, has power projection, out front during bp at this event, shows ability to square baseball to gaps, 91 mph exit velocity. Athletic behind plate with present strength, flexible and mobile, shows ability to receive and block, works low out of crouch, stands up occasionally to throw, above avg. arm strength, clean exchange and release, 81 mph arm strength with 1.99-2.1 pop times.

Ben Gallaher, C, Cretin-Derham Hall, 2019
5-foot-11, 160-pound right-handed hitting catcher. #50 player in MN 2019 rankings. 7.09 runner. Square stance, easy leg kick trigger, looks to elevate baseball, spray contact, gap to gap approach, flashes solid pop in bat to mid/pull side of field, 83 mph exit velocity. 6-foot, 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher. #26 ranked player in MN 2019 class. 7.4 runner. Open stance, easy load, short to contact, looks to elevate baseball, hard contact, gap to gap approach, line drives off bat, 87 mph exit velocity.
