Still uncommitted, Herron has a good frame at 6-foot-2, 197 pounds and arm strength. Pitching for the St. Louis Pirates at the World Wood Bat Championship in October, Herron had an impressive outing. His late-diving splitter produced a lot of swings-and-misses as it sat 79-81 mph. His fastball sat 87-89 and he also worked with a solid curveball at 74-76. His delivery is simple and in line with a clean, athletic arm action. He pitched a few days later and was just as effective.
