Commitment Q&A with Kansas State Commit Jack Quetschenbach

By: PBR Missouri Staff

OFJack Quetschenbach (Liberty, 2025; Kansas State commit) is one of the top outfielders in the state's 2025 class, coming in at No. 8 in the rankings. The 6-foot-2, 183.6-pound prospect blends an innate feel to hit, easy power, and athleticism into an enticing profile.

We first saw Quetschenbach at the MOKAN Junior Future Games Trials in 2020 where he earned a spot in the Junior Future Games and eventually a spot on Team Select for the 2023 Future Games. At the Future Games, Quetschenbach's well-rounded skills were on full display where he had a strong all-around showing and began to generate some buzz for himself.

Recently our staff talked with Quetschenbach on his recruiting journey that led to his eventual commitment to K-State, who his toughest opponent to date is, and more.

OUR Q&A

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?

Quetschenbach: My expectations going into the recruiting process was that I didn’t really know what to expect. What I was looking for was a program that develops at a high level.

PBR: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?

Quetschenbach: Yes, I wanted to find a place within a reasonable distance from home.

PBR: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Where did the school you committed to first see you play?

Quetschenbach: The recruiting process really started to heat up August 1st. Several coaches saw me play at the Future Games.

PBR: What do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?

Quetschenbach: The people in Manhattan were amazing on my visit and you can tell they love K-State. A big factor was the awesome coaching staff as they were amazing to talk to and made me feel wanted. Also, the facilities are top level. My key factors were finding a spot close to home, feeling comfortable with the campus and finding a coaching staff that made me feel good about being in their program.

PBR: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?

Quetschenbach: Indiana, Butler

PBR: Who is the best player you have faced in your state? What about them makes for a tough opponent?

Quetschenbach: Brody Irlbeck (Staley, 2025; Iowa commit). He is a tough left matchup and has 3 pitches he can throw for strikes.

PBR: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?

Quetschenbach: I was going into my sophomore year when I started hearing about schools that were interested in me. It was then that I knew I would go to the next level.

PBR: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?

Quetschenbach: Always work hard. Whenever you get a chance to get better always do it. Stay patient and don’t get caught up in ranking or the recruiting process. You will end up where you are meant to be.

PBR: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?

Quetschenbach: The future games was my most memorable moment. I met and competed with baseball players from all over the country. And seeing 300+ coaches was crazy!

PBR: Preview your high school team's season for us. How do you feel your team will be?

Quetschenbach: We will be solid. We have senior guys with experience returning, and a lot of talented juniors and underclassmen ready to make an impact. We have the right group of guys with awesome coaches and we are super excited to compete. .
