#21 Wake Forest Cougars  14 Broughton Capitals  0

The Wake Forest Cougars hitters brought the bats and sophomore right hander Carson Crider silenced the Broughton offense.  Wake Forest Cougars rolled past the Broughton Capitals 14-0 Friday night @ the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary. 

Carson Crider (RHP, 2026, Iowa commit) surrendered just 1 hit in 4 shutout innings of work.  He punched 8 Capitals. 

The Cougars offensive onslaught was lead by junior catcher Carlos Diaz (2025, C, North Carolina commit) and senior James Bradbury.  Both posted 2 hits and collected 3 RBIs.  

Sam Bertram and Reid Yancey collected the 2 lone Capitals hits on the evening. 

The Cougars move to 6-2 and open conference play Monday at Knightdale. Broughton falls to 5-3 and opens their conference season Monday at Athens Drive.

Carson Crider, RHP, Wake Forest HS, 2026

Iowa commit. Average frame. 6-foot, 175 pounds.  6'0 175 lbs Smooth delivery with a quick arm from a high-3/4 arm slot. Works from left side of the mound finishes square and controlled. Fastball plays up ranging 83-84 with good life. Mixes a solid slider with horizontal length at 73-74. 

Carlos Diaz, C/1B, Wake Forest HS, 2025

North Carolina commit. Physical presence standing 6-foot-1, 212 pounds.  Athletic frame with strength present. Power potential from a short, compact swing. Good bat speed. Capable of driving the ball out of the park. Advanced receiver behind the plate, game manager who knows is working to handle a pitching staff. Fluid out of the crouch with a quick smooth transfer,1.9 pop in warmups arm plays well with good accuracy. 

Luke Taibi, OF/RHP, Wake Forest HS, 2024

6-foot-2, 170 pounds. Balanced approach in the box with quick strong hands allows him to drive the ball to all field. Agile outfielder with good range and arm that carries well. On the mound fastball sat 81-82. Showed solid control of 2 pitches.
