2022 Junior Future Games: Team Carolina (NC) Quick Hitters - Pitchers

The 2022 Junior Future Games are underway at LakePoint in Emerson, GA featuring some of the top 2026 and 2027 prospects from across the country. Team Carolina kicked off their Junior Future Games with a workout on Tuesday. The workout day consisted of a full pro-style workout with players taking BP on the field with Trackman capturing ball flight data, a defensive workout, and players running a laser timed 60. Team Carolina will take on Texas, Canada, and Mississippi in their pool play action with bracket play to follow. 

Quick Hitters - Pitchers

 

Jake Hunter, RHP, 2026

Long, lanky frame with projection ahead at 6-foot-2, 160-pounds. Impressed on the mound working 2 scoreless innings. Fastball worked mostly in the 79-81 mph range topping at 82 mph. Has feel for his breaking ball in the low 70’s. Easy effort to the delivery with a clean, long arm action using an over the top slot. Attacked hitters filling up the strike zone with both his fastball and breaking ball. Pitches with confidence and more to come in the future.

Ethan Gilchrist, RHP, 2027

5-foot-10, 135-pound frame with room for maturation ahead.. Arm has quickness with his fastball working in the upper 70s to low 80s, topping at 82 mph.  Mixed in a breaking ball at 63-66 mph. Competes on the mound making two relief appearances after playing in the field. 

Michael Woodard, 1B/OF, 2026

6-foot-3, 175-pound long, lanky frame. Attacks hitters with feel for the strike zone. Fastball worked mostly in the 70’s. Flashed feel for a breaking ball with depth. 

Carter Huffman, SS/RHP, 2026

5-foot-8, 151-pound frame with quickness present. Punched out 2 in 1.2 innings of relief work. Showed some feel for getting his fastball to the bottom of the zone with some down angle. Fastball sat mostly at 75-76 mph. Mixed in a breaking ball at 58-60 mph. 

Tucker Payton, RHP, 2026

6-foot-1, 180-pound build. Pitched 2 innings recording each out via strike out. Fastball sat at 80-82 mph with run and sink to his arm side. Mixed in a breaking ball with sweeping action at 68-69 mph. Showed feel for the breaking ball landing it for called strikes while also using it to get swing a miss. Got his fastball to both sides of the plate. Attacked the zone with confidence in both pitches. 

Cooper Summerlin, LHP, 2026

5-foot-9, 130-pound build. Quick arm with his fastball sitting at 75-77 mph. Mixed in a breaking ball at 65-66 mph. Strike thrower who showed trust in his stuff throughout his outing. Should continue to see his stuff jump as the body matures. 

Jeter Bynum, LHP, 2026

5-foot-10, 141-pound frame. Fastball worked mostly in the 75-77 mph range early. Occasionally flashed a breaking ball at 66-67 mph spinning up to 2600 rpms. Located his fastball to his arm side showing feel for the bottom of the zone. Fastball has some run to his arm side. Clean arm action who should see his stuff rise as his frame adds strength. 

Stephen Crater, 3B, 2026

6-foot-1, 170-pounds. Clean arm using a high ¾ slot. Fastball worked in the 77-79 mph range topping at 80 mph. Breaking balls has depth at 62-64 mph. Strike thrower with confidence in both pitches. 

Payton Webb, RHP, 2026

5-foot-10, 140-pound frame. Fastball worked in the 75-77 mph range early attacking the zone to his glove side. Uses a breaking ball in the 58-60 mph range. Clean arm with more to come as the body matures.
