PBR Scouts of North Carolina have been on the road and pouring through box scores over the 1st two weeks of the North Carolina High School season getting to know the players and teams in 2023. Below, we update the North Carolina Power 25.
For the May 1, 2023 release, we begin to look ahead at what could be a very exciting post season. The top of the rankings remains consistent with the top 6 clubs holding serve in the poll. The 4A is well represented at the top of the poll and as we get into the post-season, we should see teams from different classifications stake their claim to higher spots in the poll. For independent and private schools, the biggest change in the May 1 Power 25 would be Charlotte Christian exiting the poll for the first time since the inception of the Power 25 in North Carolina. Look for schools like Metrolina Christian Academy, debuting in the Power 25 this week, to take advantage. Providence Day and Covenant Day will play this week for the conference championship that has been dominated by Charlotte Christian.
Five clubs make their way into the Power 25, 4 of the teams see their first ranking in 2023. Reagan is back in the rankings, playing well down the stretch in their conference play, priming themselves for a solid spot in the 4A playoffs. Two weeks ago, the NC Power 25 placed 7 teams in the Mid-ATL Regional Rankings, as well as 2 in the PBR National Team Rankings. Regional and National Rankings will roll out TUE and WED of this week.
Inside the rankings below, North Carolina Director of Scouting gives some insight on each team in the rankings, defending or explaining the rational for teams being slotted as they are. With the depth of talent in North Carolina, there is plenty of room to debate which teams should be in, or out, of the Power 25.

+ Click here for moreThe Eagles hold at #1 in NC Power 25. They had their 13 game win streak snapped in a 4-2 loss to cross town rival West Forsyth. A rematch with them is on deck and then the Central Piedomont 4A Tournament which should be exciting and challenging. East Forsyth has been very consistent all year and should be able to bounce back from the loss with no problem. They have all the pieces and expect them to have plenty of belief that they can win the 4A West. |

+ Click here for moreThe Cougars have remained hot as they are currently on a 14 game winning streak. During the streak most of their wins have come in blowout fashion and they are playing well in all phases of the game. They close out their regular season with Millbrook and look primed for a strong postseason run in the loaded 4A East. |

With their ability to score runs in bunches and no weak spot in the lineup it allows them to match up with any team no matter who they are facing on the mound. |

They have scored 203 runs this year and they have good mix of power and speed throughout their lineup. If they continue to get good pitching performances the Patriots could see themsevles having a big say in who wins the 4A East. |
