Offensive Burst Pushes Corinth To Regional Finals

NCHSAA 4A 4th Round | 05.19.23 at Corinth Holders HS

The Garner Trojans traveled to the Boneyard as these two teams met for the third time this season.  The stakes couldn't be higher as the winner will advance to the 4A Eastern Finals.  

The Trojans came out hot with a lead off double by Jaxon Lucas.  Nate Mizelle followed up with an RBI double as Garner jumped out 1-0 in the top of the 1st.  Corinth Holders answered in the bottom half of the frame as Jett Music doubled and Reese File brought him across with a single.  Two batter later Senior Brady Dunlop homered for a 3-1 lead.  Jackson Crute followed up with a double and Joe Dolinshek singled to plate another run as Corinth led 4-1 after the first.  

Corinth continued to plate runs in the bottom of the third as Reese File singled again, Cullen McGee singled and Brady Dunlop brought one in with a sac fly.  Jackson Crute doubled again to plate the sixth run for Corinth as they carried a 6-1 lead after 3.  

Garner fought back in the fourth as Lane Herndon was hit by a pitch and Henry Gardner brought him in with a sac ground out.  After a couple of walks, Tanner Pope banged a double to centerfield and Garner closed the gap 6-3.  

Corinth answered again in the bottom half of the frame as they plated 4 more runs.  Walks and singles by Reese, File, Jett Music, Cullen McGee and Brady Dunlop paved the way for for a triple by Jackson Crute as Corinth Holders had a massive grip on the game with a 10-3 lead.  

Garner scratched two more runs across with singles by Jaxon Lucas, a couple of errors by Corinth and a single by Lane Herndon to make it 10-5.  Corinth would add one more with some walks and passed balls as the final was 11-5.

Corinth Holders advances to the 4A East Region Finals where they will face Wake Forest HS in a 3 game series, opening on TUE May 23rd.  Garner ends a magical run and concludes their year at 17-7 overall.
