Power 25: Final 2023 Rankings

PBR Scouts of North Carolina have been on the road and pouring through box scores over the 1st two weeks of the North Carolina High School season getting to know the players and teams in 2023. Below, we update the North Carolina Power 25.

The May 8th release of the Power 25 represents the end of the regular season with the playoff schedule beginning on Tuesday May 9th for the NCHSAA and the NCISAA.  This is our 1st Power 25 of the year with just 1 week of games, but our staff felt like it was important to have an updated Power 25 heading into the state playoffs.

With the conclusion of the 2023 season, our PBR Scouts have their toughest assignment of the year in putting together the final Power 25 of the year.  NCHSAA 4A State Champion TC Roberson claims the top spot after taking 2 of 3 from No. 8 in the Regional Final and then 2 of 3 from No. 2 Wake Forest in the Championship Series.  Other State Champions in the final poll include West Henderson, Burns, and Wesleyan Christian.  While several teams surged into the Power 25 late, there were very deserving teams left just on the outside looking in.  Hickory Grove Christian won the 3A NCISAA and finished just outside the Power 25 as did a couple of teams that made late surges.  While the Power 25 can be defended by our PBR Scouts, part of the fun is the debate it creates... Let the debate begin on who is too loo, who is too high, and who will be No. 1 in 2024.

Inside the rankings below, North Carolina Director of Scouting gives some insight on each team in the rankings, defending or explaining the rational for teams being slotted as they are.  With the depth of talent in North Carolina, there is plenty of room to debate which teams should be in, or out, of the Power 25.

	+ Click here for more 4A State Champions. An incredible run by the Rams through the 2023 playoffs. They won a game 3 in the Regional Finals and did it again in the State Finals series. They got contributions from up and down their lineup. A special season for TC winning their 1st Title since 2017 and will return many key contributors in 2024.
