Quick Hitters: Canes Central Scout Day - Position Players

PBR of North Carolina was at Chapel Hill High School on Sunday June 4th for a Scout Day with the Canes Central group of the Canes Organization. The Scout Day featured players from the 2024-2027 grad classes.
The day began with catchers going through a defensive evaluation. After the catchers, pitchers threw a controlled bullpen with Trackman collecting ball flight data on each pitch. Following the pitchers, the position players ran a laser timed 60 then took batting practice on the field with Trackman gathering ball flight information. The day concluded with outfielders and infielders going through a defensive evaluation.

Quick Hitters
Strong build at 6-foot-3, 225-pounds. Hit several balls off the barrel to the left center gap. Top exit velocity at 92.1 mph, average EV at 78.2 mph. Balanced swing, direct to the ball with strength in his hands, flat barrel path. Ran a 7.23 laser timed 60.
Strength in a 6-foot-1, 200-pound frame. Switch hitter. Top exit velocity at 85.6 mph, average EV at 75.8 mph. Simple swing with a short path to the ball from both sides of the plate. Hands have strength and quickness.
Strong Build at 6-foot-2, 205-pounds. Worked through the middle of the field during BP. Hands are strong with a mostly level swing path. Top exit velocity at 91 mph, average EV at 81 mph. Ran a 7.07 laser timed 60.
6-foot-2, 185-pound frame. Worked mostly to his pull side during BP. Hands are strong and quick, looks to get extension with his barrel out front. Peak exit velocity at 91.2 mph, average EV at 80.6 mph. Ran a 6.82 laser timed 60.
5-foot-7, 145-pound frame. Balanced swing with quick hands, direct path to the ball with his barrel working flat through the zone. Lined balls to his pull side posting a peak exit velocity of 86.8 mph, average EV at 77.3 mph. Arm reached 83 mph on the infield, ran a 7.13 laser timed 60.
Alexander Chalfant, 1B/OF, 2024
Strong build at 6-foot-3, 225-pounds. Left hand hitter. Hit several balls hard during BP working through the middle of the field. Peak exit velocity at 96.1 mph, average EV at 83.1 mph. Short, simple swing, stays balanced, hands are strong and keeps his barrel through the zone. Ran a 7.26 laser timed 60.
Physical Build at 6-foot-4, 205-pound. Hit balls off the barrel to both gaps during BP. Top exit velocity at 91.5 mph, average EV at 86.9 mph. Back leg drives through the swing, some lift to the barrel path getting extension out front, hands have strength.
5-foot-9, 150-pound frame. Left hand hitter that ran a 6.80 60-time on the lasers. Balanced swing with quick hands and a flat swing path. Lined balls to his pull side posting a top exit velocity of 88.1 mph, average EV at 74.5 mph.
5-foot-10, 151-pound frame. Lined balls through the middle of the field during his BP rounds. Quick hands with a direct path to the ball, flat swing path, stays balanced. Peak exit velocity at 87.8 mph, average EV at 79 mph.
