Quick Hitters: DPC Scout Day - Pitchers

Brandon Hall
Mid-Atlantic Scouting Director

On Wednesday August 16th PBR of North Carolina was on hand at the DPC Baseball Academy in Clayton, NC for a Scout Day with DPC Baseball. The Scout Day ran in conjunction with the Last Chance Summer ID. The Scout Day featured players from the 2025-2027 grad classes.

The day began with position players running a laser timed 60. After running the position players took live BP on the field with Trackman gathering advanced hitting data. Following BP players went through a defensive evaluation at their positions. The event concluded with pitchers throwing a controlled bullpen with Trackman collecting ball flight data.

Below we begin our breakdown of the players in attendance. Look for more information to follow in the coming days.

Quick Hitters - Pitchers

Luke Campbell, RHP, Corinth Holders HS, 2025
Athletic frame at 5-foot-8, 155 pounds. Loose arm through a long arm swing. Over-the-top slot. Better than average arm speed. Fastball has occasional run at 78-80, 1762rpm. Heavy sink metrics. Solid feel for both breaking ball and change-up. Breaking ball up to 66, 2097rpm with 11/5 tilt.  Short hump out of the hand and fairly tight tilt through the hitting zone.

Sheldon Brown, LHP, East Wake HS, 2027
Very young face. Think 5-foot-9, 132 pounds. Long arm swing with some effort, plunging out of the glove and then loading the scapular with some arm wrap around the body. High-¾ slot.  Better than average arm speed. Fastball peaked at 71, 1836rpm with helium coming as he gets stronger.

Joshua Glenn, LHP, Enloe HS, 2027
Average build. 5-foot-9, 129 pounds.  Still very youthful. Lots of maturation ahead. Coils around the back hip and uncoils on the way to landing on-line. Medium arm action working to load the scapular. High-¾ slot. Average arm speed. Fastball peaked at 68, 1681rpm. Good feel for the change-up.  Showed feel for all three around the zone.

Mason Hawkins, RHP, Broughton HS, 2027
Athletic 6-foot, 185 pounds. Simple delivery. Stable head. Works level and in-line. Arm plunges out of the glove working through a long action to an over-the-top slot. Whippy arm with arm strength. Works downhill through the release. Fastball peaked at 82.3, 1982rpm. Slider is a potential weapon. While still developing, it flashed late 10/4 tilt, exploding away from a RHH. Slider sat 70-73, 2357rpm.

Will Hicks, RHP, Cleveland HS, 2025
Strong frame with broad shoulders, standing 6-foot, 185 pounds. High level spin on the breaking ball. Fastball, breaking ball combo makes him a good prospect.  Long arm swing through an over-the-top slot. Whippy with good arm speed. Fastball at 86-88, 2222rpm. Solid ride with some run on the fastball. Showed feel for locating to the glove side and elevating on command. Breaking ball is tight with late depth and 10/4 tilt. Sits 70-71, 2924, spinning up to 3015rpm. Mimics the fastball elevated window befor the late, darting action.

Kolby Jarman, LHP, West Johnston HS, 2025
Lanky 6-foot-4, 200 pounds. Choppy rhythm working to sit on the back side out of his balance. High front side. Long arm action. Over-the-top with better than average arm speed. Fastball at 82-83, 1761rpm. Run out of the hand has length at times. Big breaking ball works through a top to bottom action at 68-69, 1739rpm. Splitter over change-up at this time. Kills the spin on the split at 70-71 and some feel for landing it.

Caden Jeffrey, LHP, Cape Fear HS, 2025
Physical presence. Broad shoulders. 6-foot-2, 215 pounds. Some side to side action over the rubber as he lifts. Medium arm action, slightly loading the scapular.  Over-the-top slot. Arm strength over arm speed. Better than average arm speed. Downhill with the fastball at 81-82, 1969rpm. Plays true with good ride through the zone.  11:45 spin tilt at release. Good secondary stuff with breaking ball and change-up able to play vs. hitters. Hard downer action on the curveball at 68-72, 2259rpm.  Early tilt but has length through the 2/8 tilt.

Corey Kinard, LHP, Willow Springs HS, 2027
Lean, athletic, and youthful at 5-foot-9, 127 pounds. Long arm swing loads the scapular.  High-¾ slot. Athletic arm. Better than average arm speed with some whip through release. Fastball peaked at 74, 1816rpm.  Breaking ball has late action, working to sweep across the zone at 59-61, 1883rpm.
