Quick Hitters: MegaStar Pitchers

Brandon Hall
Mid-Atlantic Scouting Director

On Saturday May 20th PBR of North Carolina was at Moor Park in Mooresville, NC for a Scout Day with the Charlotte Megastars. The Scout Day featured players from the 2024-2026 grad classes.

The day began with outfielders and infielders going through a defensive evaluation followed by players running a laser timed 60. Position players then took BP on the field with Trackman collecting ball flight data. After BP, catchers went through their defensive evaluation. The day concluded with pitchers throwing a controlled bullpen with Trackman collecting ball flight data.

Below we begin our breakdown of the players in attendance. Look for more information to follow in the coming days.

Zachary Gaydos, RHP, Butler HS, 2024
Lean 6-foot-3, 175 pounds. Strong arm with solid ride and run. Low hands with a slight coil in the lower half at balance. Long arm swing. Some effort through an over-the-top slot. Above average arm speed.  Arm strength over arm speed. Fastball at 88-90. Slider and curveball in the arsenal. Slightly different tilt.  Slider at 76-78, 2014rpm with early, 10/4 tilt. Curveball at 73-76, 2056rpm.  Hard, downer action.  Firm and thrown with intent. Still developing rhythm and direction in the delivery. Overall stuff is very intriguing with room to its ceiling.
