Quick Hitters: Rawlings Prospects NC Pitchers

Brandon Hall
Mid-Atlantic Scouting Director

On Tuesday September 12th PBR of North Carolina was on hand at Knightdale High for the Fall Triangle ID and the Rawlings Prospects Scout Day. The events ran together and featured players from the 2024-2027 grad classes.

The evening began with catchers going through a defensive evaluation followed by pitchers throwing a controlled bullpen with Trackman collecting data on each pitch. After the pitchers the position players ran a laser timed 60 followed by batting practice on the field with Trackman collecting ball flight data. The events concluded with outfielders and infielders going through a defensive evaluation.

Below we begin our breakdown of the players in attendance. Look for more information to follow in the coming days.

Quick Hitters - Pitchers

Landon Garry, RHP, Heritage HS, 2024
Average frame, standing 6-foot-2, 195 pounds. Raw delivery with motion side to side over the rubber. Coils around the back hip, working level and landing back on-line. Long arm swing.  Elbow works above the shoulder line as he gets to the cocking phase. High-¾ slot.  Average to above arm speed. Slinger type whip.  Fastball peaked at 83.2, 2522rpm.  Solid ride with heavy run, averaging 17.2in.  1:45 spin tilt at release. Slider has late depth, exploding away from RHH as it enters the decision zone. Slider sat 69-70, 2596rpm, peaking at 2626rpm. Heavy horizontal action late with good depth.  Slider should give hitters a lot of issues when thrown around the zone.

Jackson Rowlands, RHP, North Raleigh Christian, 2026
Thin frame at 6-foot, 155 pounds. Long arm action, plunging out of the glove. Works back to an over-the-top slot. High front side with some uphill leverage through the shoulders. Lands on-line with an open toe at foot-strike. Fastball ranged 75-77, 1654rpm with average ride and some run out of the hand.  Good feel for a short breaking ball with 11/5 tilt peaking at 67.6, 1758rpm.  Change-up is thrown with solid arm speed, turning it over through release to get fade through the zone at 68-70, 1800rpm.
