Arms Galore as No. 1 and No. 4 Hook Up

A plethora of high end arms were on display on Wednesday night in Charlotte at Charlotte Christian School.  #1 Wesleyan Christian Academy used 3 of their aces to subdue #4 Charlotte Christian who countered with an ace of their own.

Josh Hammonds (RHP, 2025, Wake Forest commit) worked the first three innings for Wesleyan, earning the win in the effort.  Hammonds struck out 4, giving up 3 runs in a wild 3rd inning.  Leading 5-0, Charlotte Christian plated 3 earned runs with only one ball leaving the infield.  Several well placed cap or jam hits started the merry go round that Hammonds eventually worked out of.

Following Hammonds, Hudson Lance (RHP, 2024, Coastal Carolina commit) worked 2 clean innings, striking out 5 and the final frame went to Sam Cozart (RHP, 2025) who was clean in the 7th, striking out 2.

Charlotte Christian started their ace, Grant Nicholson (RHP, 2025, Wake Forest HS). Nicholson struggled early to work the count efficiently, walking 4 in the first two innings.  The big blow came in the 2nd inning.  With 2 on and 1 out, Sawyer Black (OF, 2024, Liberty commit) homered to right center field, pushing the early lead to 5-0.

While these two programs are not scheduled to play again in 2024, both will be expected to make noise in the NCISAA 4A State Tournament, where they could meet again.
