#18 Holly Springs HS  9                       Middle Creek HS  2

On a cool night at Middle Creek HS, Middle Creek and Holly Springs were involved in a pitchers duel. Middle Creeks first two pitchers, Ryan Morris and Casey Murray only allowed one run through five innings. Holly Springs pitcher, Jake Cachovic, allowed only two runs through six innings. 

With two outs in the seventh inning, Holly Springs broke through for eight runs, behind key doubles from Cole Bowie, Hodge Williams, and rbi singles from Tyler Dowler, JD Heron, and Drake Della Ratta. 

Anthony Zezza closed out the game with a one, two, three, seventh inning with two strikeouts, giving Holly Springs the win.

Jake Cackovic, RHP, Holly Springs HS, 2025

UNC commit. Big body at 6-foot-8. Good athlete also plays basketball. Fastball has action, sinking with arm side run. Heavy run when down in the zone. Fastball ranged 86-89. Able to land the breaking ball consistently, creating issues for hitters when he was in positive counts, expanding with spin. Inconsistent tilt. Wanted 10/4 tilt but occasionally the breaking ball had more sweep to it. Curveball ranged 74-80.       

Ryan Morris, LHP, Middle Creek HS, 2024 

Lean with some length in the limbs at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds. Threw three shutout innings, around the zone and did not allow a walk. Kept the batters off balance with three different pitches. ¾ slot with athleticism through release. Fastball showed late life and seemed to play up vs. hitters, sitting 78-83. Curveball worked with length across the zone ranging 67-71. 

Casey Murray, RHP, Middle Creek, 2027

Young pitcher with good mechanics and good feel for his breaking ball. Has long arms and long legs. Still maturing and should add strength and weight to the frame. Interesting follow moving forward. Worked with some ease. Athletic through the release. Fastball ranged 76-79.  Good feel for landing the breaking ball at 66-68.
