2020 Scout Day: Ellington/Somers/Rockville Legion - Quick Hits
The Players
- Luke Wearne, 2022- A right-handed hitting catcher, slightly open , level to up path, creating lift and loft, pop to the pull side gap. Look for him to be physical at some point.
- Matthew Mataya, 2021- A right-handed hitting infielder, swung the bat extremely well, line drives to both gaps, had an exit velocity of 86 mph. The glove is soft, enough arm to stick at 3rd base, more of a corner guy.
- Kyle Lenz, 2022- A right-handed hitter, showing plus pop to pull side, had an exit velocity of 91 mph, took a solid round of batting practice, driving the baseball out of the ballpark. Wide physical frame will need to continue to condition.
- Anthony Mierez, 2021- A left-handed hitter, level path, more middle to pull side. The barrel works through the zone with minimal effort. Showing hard contact, worked off the mound, up to 80 mph, pounded the zone with a solid two-pitch mix.
- Alex Grenier, 2022- A left-handed hitter, wider setup, level to up path. The swing is smooth, is balanced on contact, and has an exit velocity of 89 mph. Working out behind the plate, the frame is large, could make a move to first base long term.
- Noah Madore, 2021- A right-handed hitting, left-side infielder, showing clean smooth actions, whippy arm at 75 mph. The barrel has life, level to up path. Worked off the mound as well, with continued work, could turn into a legit sinker slider guy. The fastball reached 77 mph, with sink, projects off the mound for me.
- Thomas Lesco, 2023- A right-handed hitter, athletic actions and movements, hands work through the hitting zone, gets the barrel to the baseball.
- Camden Thomas, 2023- A left-handed pitcher, arm action is clean, smooth, working with minimal effort. Body is under control, throws strikes, will need to add arm strength, but the arm works, with shape to the breaking ball. The fastball was clocked at 71 mph, room for a velocity jump.
