2023 PBR New York Player of the Year
June 20, 2023
The PBR New York staff is excited to announce that we've selected one athlete who has excelled amongst his peers and will receive this year's Prep Baseball Report New York Player of the Year Award:
2023 RHP Josh Knoth (Patchogue Medford)
Recap: The projected first rounder in this years MLB Draft was nearly unhittable all spring highlighted by a 19 K perfect game in early May.
In 2023, Knoth was dominant giving up only 5 hits in 41.2 innings, while striking out 109 against 15 walks, and gave up only 1 ER for a 0.17 ERA, and 0.48 WHIP. The righty features an electric, high spin Fastball that has +IVB metrics and explodes through the zone. Back in March when our Long Island Scouting Supervisor , Chris Dryll got a good look at him, along with a back stop full of MLB scouts the Fastball sat 94-95 T96 MPH and he has been up to 98 MPH this spring (per Basball America). Knoth spins 2 different shape breaking balls at 3000 RPM+ with advanced movement and depth that have plus pitch profiles. They both come out of the hand firm with tunnel action before darting down and away from RHH's, The CB at 79- 82 MPH with more down action then the SL at 83-85. Knoth rounds off his arsenal with a change up he has feel for at a -10 MPH differential off the FB.
