U15 CHAMPIONSHIP ROCHESTER ROUGHRIDERS 3 SENECA ALL STARS 1

Tournament MVP Jagger Nucci allowed one run on three hits and two walks over six innings as the Roughriders grabbed an early lead and never trailed. Nucci struck out four and retired seven of the last nine batters he faced. The right-hander got seven ground-ball outs and allowed just one runner past second. JP Erbland executed a safety squeeze to give Rochester a 2-0 edge in the second inning. With Tyler Curtis at third, Erbland squared up for the sacrifice. Jake Cerone got the Roughriders on the scoreboard when he plated Jackson DeJohn with an opposite field single.  Trey Brown added an insurance in the fifth when he brought home Gavin Moore from first with an opposite-field hit-and-run triple. Brown went 2-for-3 in the game. Chad Gartland, seeing his first action this weekend since suffering a season-ending ankle injury on April 3rd, fanned two and worked a scoreless seventh for the save. Logan Peters drove in Hunter Kendall with a two-out single through the left side of the infield to pull Seneca within one at 2-1 in the third. Chris Mattoon tossed two scoreless innings in relief for Seneca. Seneca's Zac Judson put on a defensive show. The All Stars shortstop routinely made plays in the hole between third and short and up the middle. With a smooth transfer from his glove Judson finished with five putouts and had a hand in a 4-6-3 double play.

 

U15 Semi-Final Rochester Roughriders 8 Ontario Outlaws 2
Jagger Nucci delivered an RBI sacrifice fly for a 2-0 lead in the first, and the Roughriders did not surrender their lead from there. Gavin Moore worked a one-out walk and eventually came around to score on an error before Nucci drove in Chad Gartland with the second run. Gratland started and hurled two shutout innings before giving way to Kyle Blum who allowed one run over 2.2 frames of work. Tyler Curtis led the second with a single and scored to give Rochester a 3-0 lead. Nucci doubled home Gartland in a two-run third and Blum made it 5-2 game in the fourth when he squeezed home JP Erbland. Avery Bowens connected on an RBI triple in the sixth and scored his second run of the game on a Gartland base hit up the middle. Craig Kaufman drove in both of Ontario’s runs with a two-out single to left center in the third inning.

 

U15 Semi-Final Seneca All Stars 6 Rochester Cougars 0
Tommy Kane hurled a complete game one-hitter. The right-hander struck out 11 – seven looking for the win. Logan Peters went 2-for-3 with two runs scored to pace Seneca’s offense. Zac Judson scored twice and drove in another run. Carter Allen was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Dom Thomas drove in a run with a two-out single in the sixth. Chris Mattoon finished 3-for-3.

U14 CHAMPIONSHIP ROCHESTER COUGARS 5 ENDICOTT RUMBLE PONIES 4

Brian Renke plated RJ Vignari with a walk-off single as Rochester held off a late Endicott rally. Vignari worked a leadoff walk to start the stanza. Frankie Fernandes and tournament MVP Tyler Szalkowski loaded the bases with back-to-back singles to set up Renke’s game-winner. Endicott tied the game in the top half with a dramatic comeback. Rocco Spinelli reached on a one-out base on balls. Anthony Conti was the first four straight to reach base with two out. Conti made it a one-run game with a double. Dom Fontana walked. Jake Waibel was hit by a pitch, and Josh Mollo knotted the game at four with a base hit. Szalkowski plated two with a double, and Rochester grabbed a 3-1 lead in the first. Conti walked and scored in the to make it a 3-2 game, but Renke drove in Vignari with a base hit in the home half to give Rochester the lead 4-2 advantage it took into the seventh.

 

U14 Semi-Final Endicott Rumble Ponies 7 Greece Tornadoes 4
Dom Guccia and Josh Mollo combined for six hits and five RBI, and Endicott scored four in the seventh inning to advance. Guccia finished 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Mollo went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Zack Pilarcek threw a complete game for the win. Lucas Sulimowicz paced the Greece offense going 3-for-3 with two RBI. Ryan Dineen was 2-for-3 with a double.

 

U14 Semi-Final Rochester Cougars 2 Gaffer Baseball 0
Tyler Szalkowski hurled a 1-hitter and struck out six as the Cougars advanced to the title game. Brian Renke connected on a two-out RBI single in the first to give Rochester a lead it did not relinquish. Frankie Fernandes doubled to start the first and came around on the Renke hit. Jack Bagwell started the seventh with a double and came home on Cullen Beck’s RBI squeeze bunt. Fernandes finished 2-for-3. Chris Sleeper went 2-for-2. Zack Hammond had Gaffer Baseball’s lone hit.
