The Road to the California State Games begins with the 2023 California high school baseball season. With the season just around the corner, our staff has begun putting out team previews from all around the state, getting you prepared for another year of exciting coverage. 

Today we focus on the Linfield Christian Lions who finished with a 20-8 overall record last season. The Lions are returning six starters and will rely on its defensive strength to fuel a run at the Ambassador League title and a competitive run in the postseason.

DJ Kerr- RHP/1B, 6’1”, 170, R/R, competes in all aspects of the game. Projects as #1 on the mound this season. Forces a ton of weak contact. Plays a solid 1B and is coming into his own offensively.

Noah Getz- LHP, 225, 6’1”, 160, L/L, dad and uncle are both 6’5”, uncle played professionally. "Projects as a front end starter. What he currently lacks in velocity he makes up for with command and ability to throw any pitch at any time + confidence and a competitor."

Drew Taylor- RHP/C/OF, 2026, 6’0”, 160, R/R, can’t miss kid. Already sitting low-80s leading into his freshman campaign. "Hits for average and power, already clearing the fence in BP and games. High baseball IQ. Constant desire to learn more about the game. Above average runner, especially for catcher. Three-sport athlete (football, track [jumps])."
