Uncommitted 2019 Pitchers

PBR California Staff

A few weeks ago we released our updated and expanded Class of 2019 State Rankings. The expansion added 50 players expanding our rankings to 150 players from across the state. Today we will highlight uncommitted pitchers as identified by our team of scouts.

With the spring season a few months away, these pitchers have positioned themselves in such a way that their opportunities to play college ball should present itself before too long.

Scouting Report

8/1/18 - Six-foot-2, 190-pounds, long frame with strength and athleticism throughout. Broad shoulders with long limbs, high waist, and a barrel chest. Shows a loose, fast, compact arm action that is lively through his drop/drive repeatable delivery. Shows flexibility and athleticism on the mound. Pounds the zone with a fastball ,slider, changeup repertoire. Fastball life to the armside as it enters the hitting zone which he keeps down below the knees. Slider is a potential plus pitch with its sharp, late breaking action that he commands for strikes. Has a two-seam fastball that shows big armside run while working downhill and in on righties. Dale shows feel for the changeup which is still a developing pitch but has present fading action. Dale oozes projection with his present stuff and physicality. He is undoubtedly one of the best available pitchers in the 2019 class.

4/18/18 - UCLA commit. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Dale is a long, strong, righty with a loose, whippy arm and a clean, repeatable, compact, high ¾ delivery delivery that suggests there's more in there for him. Dale tends to fall off to the first base side after pulling his backside through the pitching zone. Dale keeps his front shoulder closed and lands online consistently before coming through with his throwing arm. High ceiling on the mound where he threw his fastball downhill through the bottom of the strike zone at 85-87 T89. Maintains fluidity and gets on top of the baseball quickly on the back side. Flashed tight breaking ball with late depth from the same arm slot at 73-76 which could become a putaway pitch as he becomes more comfortable throwing in those counts. His changeup was in the strike zone and flashed fading action at 79-80 but he only threw it four times. This too could develop into a plus pitch for him based on the command he showed the four times he threw it. Dale showed a penchant for working in on hitters, attacking the inner-half and off the plate inside. Dale's team was well out of the game when he entered but he showed his competitive makeup in his outing by challenging hitters despite the score.
