Game Preview:  Both teams have started the year strong with 7 wins a piece and are paced by strong pitching staffs which are limiting runs early in the season. Monterey has allowed just 21 runs in 9 games allowing no more that 2 runs in a game with 2 shutouts to start the spring. Senior Jackson Everett has been masterful with a 1.25 ERA in 6 appearances with 3 wins and has punched out 30 hitters in 22.1 IP with Junior Luke Miramontes just behind him with a 1.47 ERA in 5 appearances with 1 win and has allowed just 10 hits in 14.1 innings pitched. Salinas Senior hurler Dominic Tomasi has been strong to open his final year of high school baseball with 25 innings pitched, 22 punchouts and 1.12 ERA in 5 appearances with Senior Nathan Vazquez sporting an impressive 0.00 ERA with 3 wins in 3 appearances over 12 innings with 11 punchouts. Salinas has 4 full time players hitting over .300 with 3 of them in their Junior years in Evan Le, Jordan Isla and Trey Im. While Monterey brings 3 regulars into the matchup hitting over .300 in FR. Gino Grammatico, JR. Patrick Adams and SR. Jackson Everett. The series will be a test of which offense can produce enough against a pair of strong pitching staffs to position themselves for a run at a PCAL title.
