Ventura, Calif. - As the entirety of the of the California High School sections are fully underway including the Northern sections all playing games Prep Baseball California will be highlighting a weekly game of the week.

This week in the NorCal Central Section a pair of programs that are off to strong starts in the 2024 season will square off in pool play of the Fresno Easter Classic. The 11-1 Frontier Titans will face off against the 9-2 Kerman Lions with each program looking towards a potential run at the Tournament title. (Note: Both teams play on Monday 3/25 which may effect overall records before the matchup on 3/26).

Game Preview:  Both programs will open up on Monday in the Fresno Easter Classic and this game will be their 2nd of the tournament which likely means each team will have used their ace in the opener. But, this matchup will undboutedly still have plenty of good arms to feature with both programs boasting a depth of quality arms that are throwing the baseball very well this spring. The Lions have allowed just 22 runs in 11 games with 4 shutouts and 3 games where they have allowed just 1 run while the Titans have allowed just 35 runs in 12 games with 1 shutout and 4 games in which they have allowed only 1 run. Gastelum and Delgado have been the top two arms for Kerman sporting ERA's of 1.27 for Gastelum and .3.21 for Delgado while each having struck out 20+ batters with Olivares having been electric in his 17.1 innings of work he has struck out 19 with a .40 ERA. Durkan has fronted the Titans rotation with 44 K's in 39 innings with an ERA 1.08 with SO. LHP Matthew Montes pitching 9.1 innings with 8 K's and a .75 ERA while the SR. Mills stands with a 2.10 ERA and 9 K's in 10 innings pitched. The Titans enter with the more prolific offense averaging 7 runs per game while the Lions stand at 5.5 runs per game. Frontier has 5 regulars hitting over .300 with SR. Casen Bradford at the top with a .417 average, 11 RBI's and 9 runs scored. Kerman boasts 2 players over .400 with SR. C Gilber Acosta off to a torrid start at .500 with 7 doubles, 2 triples, 2 HRs and 11 RBI's to go with 16 runs scored. Someones lineup will have to breakthrough against the pair of strong pitching staffs to bring home a victory in this matchup.
