Los Angeles, Calif. - Each week during the high school season we will announce the NorCal Pitcher and Player of the Week covering the action from the previous week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on recommendations from high school coaches from Northern California. 

Continuing from previous seasons, we will also be highlighting others players from across the state in our Prep Baseball California Diamond Notes that will be released weekly. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Pitcher of Player of the Week. 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Junior Right Handed Pitcher Dylan Letke of Washington (Fremont) High School is the NorCal Pitcher of the Week after a dominant outing against Livermore High School last week. The uncommitted righty struck out eight over 6.1 innings pitched that included only three hits allowed and one earned run. The outing was a big bounce back performance for Letke who scuffled in his season debut a week prior. 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Senior Catcher Gilbert Acosta of Kerman High School is the NorCal Player of the Week after his big time performance against Tulare Western last week. With his team up 1-0 late, Acosta hit a towering three run home run to extend the Lions lead and secure the win. For the week Acosta was 3-for-7 with a double, triple, and the big three-run homerun and five RBI. Acosta is off to a scorching start slashing .480/.581/1.701 with six doubles, two triples, two home runs, and eight RBI for the uncommitted catcher whose defense has been equally impressive.
