Los Angeles, Calif. - Each week during the high school season we will announce the NorCal Pitcher and Player of the Week covering the action from the previous week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on recommendations from high school coaches from Northern California. 

Continuing from previous seasons, we will also be highlighting others players from across the state in our Prep Baseball California Diamond Notes that will be released weekly. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Pitcher of Player of the Week. 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Junior Right Handed Pitcher Diego De Luna of Pittsburg High School is the NorCal Pitcher of the Week after an electric start for the Pirates. In a combined shutout win over Campolindo, De Luna started and punched out 10 hitters before exiting the game while allowing no runs in a 9-0 win.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Junior OF Jack Pezzollo of Cardinal Newman High School is the NorCal Player of the Week after his stellar week in games against Berkeley High School and Whitney High School. In the matchup against Berkeley, Pezzollo went 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBI's (driving in both of the runs Cardinal Newman scored in the game). Later in the week he would collect 2 hits against Whitney including an early 2 RBI knock and then started a 2-out rally in the 7th inning with a 2K hit and would eventually come around to score.
