Game Preview:  A spring break tournament matchup that pits a pair of strong San Diego section programs against each other to open the event will feature multiple D1 commits and talented uncommitted prospects across each teams rosters. For Carlsbad FR Matthew Kelley is swinging a loud bat in the first 5 games of his high school career at a .471 clip with 1 HR, 4 RBi's and 6 runs scored with only JR Ayden Munoz performing better then him so far Munoz comes in with a torrid .500 batting average with 4 doubles, 5 RBI's and 9 runs scored and finally SR Adrian Macias adds the 3rd Lancer hitting over .400 with a .412 clip, 6 RBI's and 4 runs scored. The Lancers staff has a pair of D1 commits at the front who both sport ERA's below 3.00 with JR Ian Fisher leading the way at 2.10 in 10 innings pitched with 16 punchouts to just 2 BB's while picking up 2 wins and SR Tyler Foster sitting with a 2.62 ERA in 8 innings with 9 punchouts with JR Weston Thornbuy adding 5 innings pitched with a 0.00 ERA and 8 punchouts. The Patriots themselves have 4 players hitting over .300 with JR. Cody Cappelletti at the top with a .400 average, 1 HR, 3 doubles, 8 RBI's and 8 runs scored with SR Talin Gardini just behind him at .383 but adding significant impact to the lineup with 3 HRs, 5 doubles and 13 RBI's plus rising SO Alex Mestman is at  .375 with 2 doubles and 10 runs scored. Gardini has not just been electric at the plate, but also on the mound where the SR has 21.2 innings pitched, 28 punchouts, 4 wins and an ERA at 1.29 to lead the Patriots who can also turn to JR. Cappelletti who is at 17 innings pitched with an electric 29 punchouts and a .82 ERA to go with 2 wins or SR Hamilton Collins who has 14.1 innings pitched with a 2.93 ERA and 17 punchouts with 2 wins to his credit. The winner of this matchup very much can put themselves in position to pickup a tourney title by the end of the event.
