Game Preview:  The pair matched up last week for the first game of this 3 game set with the Mustangs winning the opener. As they are set to face off twice this week the Eagles offense is going to have to crack the Mustangs pitching staff which has allowed on 23 runs in 16 games on the year and has spun 8 shutouts so far on the year. The Eagles pitching staff which has been stellar to start the year itself will look to bounce back from the season high 8 runs they allowed to the Mustangs in the opener. Both offenses have been strong to open the 2024 spring with each team hitting over .300 as a team and sporting team On Base percentages over .400 on the spring. The Mustangs have averaged 7.4 runs per game while the Eagles are plating 6.9 runs per game. The eventual winner of this series will have a strong chance to bring home the Orange Coast League title.

Game Preview:  Harvard Westlake enters the 1 vs 2 matchup featuring one of if not the best pitching staff in not just the state of California, but the nation with Bridges, Marsten, Alex starting games and Rainer closing them out runs have been at a premium to score against the Wolverines who have allowed just 32 runs in 15 games on the year including 3 shutouts and 4 games where they have allowed just 1 run. While the spotlight may shine bright on the Wolverines staff the Eagles boast a strong pitching staff which has allowed just 51 runs in 15 games while twirling 5 shutouts and 3 games in which they allowed just 1 run. One could be well justified in expecting to see a pair of low scoring pitcher duals come out of this match up of Mission League title hopefuls, but the bats of Wolverines lead by Rainer, Goldstein, Marsten and Tronstein will be looking to do damage with the Eagles trio of outfielders in Hearn, Silver and Van der Wel who are all hitting over .300 to provide impact against the Wolverines. The winner of this 2 game set will have well positioned themselves for a run in April/May at the Mission League title.
