The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as the calendar rapidly approaches the start of the '24 CIF High School baseball season Prep Baseball California is now highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '25 athletes. The players featured are pulled directly from our '25 Class Rankings. These JR year players are ones that college coaches and fans should be keeping their eyes on over the coming months.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts and the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on a SoCal '25 3B/RHP Braden Butler from Capistrano Valley High School. Displaying a stronger 6'3 205 lbs. frame with good athletic ability Butler presents an interesting 2-way potential prospect. Flashing the running speed at 6.96 in the 60 with burst and the actions moving around at 3B to project to stick at the hot corner. His arm is presently solid average and could develop into a potential above average arm. There is strength in his RH swing with aggressive hands at 21.4 MPH and solid bat speed at 71.5 MPH while showing leverage in his path to drive the baseball to the pull side of the field. His power is fringe above average at 94.5 MPH max exit velocity. The approach is geared to pull the ball in the air which present a power over hit profile as a position player with the strength in his frame to carry him as a power hitting 3B with solid defense. Butler is interesting on the mound with a quick arm and good intent to his delivery. His FB works in the 83-85 MPH range while mixing in a good assortment of offspeed compliments in his 64-67 MPH CB, 70-72 MPH CHG and a 73-75 MPH SLD. The frame and body control give him a chance to start with a solid 3 pitch mix which flashes potential to be a 4 pitch mix if he can polish his CHG. Butler should be one college coaches are tracking this spring and summer as a potential option for their '25 class.
