COLORADO POWER 25 RANKINGS (PRESEASON)

PBR COLORADO is pleased to announce the initial 2022 POWER 25 Rankings.

Defending 2021 Colorado 5A State Championship will start the 2022 season as PBR Colorado’s No. 1 ranked team. Mountain Vista High School, coached by Ron Quintana, has a reloaded team with a quality mix of experience and newcomers. Uncommitted LHP 2022 Tyler Mejia will anchor a strong staff. Mejia has regained past velos after TJ surgery and will be throwing to one of the top catchers and leaders in the state: 2022 Blake Young (Santa Barbara). 2023 C/OF Sean Marlow (St Thomas) is one of many athletic and versatile players that will create a highly competitive line-up.

Valor Christian is our No. 2 team and  may have the best depth of any team in the state. They are led by rising stars 2022 RHP Kenan Elarton (Arizona) and 2023 C Carson Tinney (Notre Dame).

Chatfield has the top MLB Draft prospect, 2022 RHP Christian Foutch (Arkansas) and starts our rankings at No. 2. Foutch has been electric since his breakout season in the 2021 season. 2023 LHP/OF Parker Murrow (Charleston Southern) is one of Colorado’s best two-way players. Perennial power Regis Jesuit starts at No. 4 and has talent well beyond the big names of PBR Super 60 player SS Dallas Macias (Oregon State) and 2022 OF Isaac Wachsmann (Xavier).

Heritage at No. 5, has one of the best athletes in the state in 2022, RHP/OF Luke Meyers (Central Arizona).

Defending 4A 2021 State Champion Ponderosa pulls the highest 4A ranking at No. 6 and also has the highest ranked 2022 player in SS Dylan Carey (Nebraska). Carey was also a participant in PBR’s Super 60.

The remaining Top 10 include Mullen at No. 7, Holy Family at No. 8, Douglas County at No. 9 and Rock Canyon at No. 10, #10.

POWER 25 NOTES

2021 5A/4A/3A State Champs are represented in the 2022 Power 25:  Mountain Vista/Ponderosa/Eaton

Limon is represented in teams to watch and is the only undefeated team from the 2021 season.

PBR Colorado considers teams from all classifications playing baseball, 1A-5A. These early rankings are compiled with the help from our Colorado coaches from all levels from all around the state.

PBR Colorado has used valued  PBR Staff, scouts, past and current HS coaches and past and current club coaches as resources. We also lean on our knowledge of the players we have seen from our events and tournaments from this past year.

These rankings stay with the theme of PBR and are prospect driven. We strive to bring state and national recognition for our Colorado players. As the season progresses, the rankings will be more strongly determined by wins and losses and the opponents. Rankings will be updated as the season progresses.
