Q&A With University of Iowa Commit: 2016 Connor Lindaman- Davenport Assumption

Connor Lindaman, 1B/RHP, Davenport Assumption, Class of 2016

PBR: Why did you choose the University of Iowa?

LINDAMAN: The coaching staff was very personable and attended several of my games throughout the year. They also let me know from the beginning they intended on building their program with Iowa kids I never felt any pressure from them and I wanted to stay in the Midwest since I had been a lifetime Hawkeye fan.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

LINDAMAN: I was strongly considering Illinois and Illinois State as well.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?

LINDAMAN: They first saw me at Perfect Game events and then several high school games this past year. I also attended several Iowa baseball games last Spring on unofficial visits. We both kept in touch with each other after the season and I attended a couple of their camps along with PBR showcases in which they saw me.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?

LINDAMAN: Yes, very relieved that I know where I’m going. I can now focus more on baseball and picking a major in college. The emails and phone calls I was getting from other schools picked up significantly after coaches were allowed to talk to juniors.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?

LINDAMAN: The personal attention from the coaching staff, closeness to home, and the fact that the baseball program is heading in a very positive direction.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?

LINDAMAN: My family and all the coaches I have had from when I was young until now. I have been very fortunate to play on some good teams and compete against some of the top travel teams in the country. I was also coached by many people that knew a lot about the game.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?

LINDAMAN: I didn’t really know what to expect. I guess I didn’t expect it to be so early. The process of really playing in front of recruiters started when I was 15 at a national WWBA tournament in Atlanta, Georgia. I played with the St. Louis Pirates 16U team and then just kind of expanded from there.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?

LINDAMAN: The plan is to get an opportunity to show what I can do and have a chance to play, but like everyone else, it has to be earned.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

LINDAMAN: I have had several, but winning the 3A State Championship with Davenport Assumption last summer and getting 2 hits in the Championship game was by far the best.

PBR: Who is the toughest player that you have competed against?

LINDAMAN: Cole Baker in the State Championship Game last summer.
