On Monday night, on the campus of Louisiana Lafayette, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana was on hand as No. 3 ranked Teurlings Catholic HS faced off against Benton HS.

It was one of the quickest 7 inning games that we can remember, as it took a little under 1 hour and 20 minutes for Teurlings Catholic to defeat Benton 1 to 0.

Senior, Josh Taylor, took the hill for Teurlings and he was sharp. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with regular effort. Smooth rhythm, in-line direction and lands square. Fastball sat 83-86 mph with solid life and command. Breaking ball showed 10/4 shape with tight spin, depth and fastball arm speed at 75-76 mph. Taylor was outstanding, going complete game shutout and only allowed 4 hits.

Arkansas recruit, Jackson Rutledge, took the hill for Benton and was solid in 6 innings of work, allowing only 4 hits and the 1 run. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with regular effort. Smooth rhythm, in-line direction, lands closed, and finishes upright. Fastball sat 83-86 mph with quality angle and control. Breaking ball showed 1/7 shape with gradual break and near fastball arm speed at 68-72 mph. Flashed quality changeup with fastball arm speed and fade action at 74-75 mph.

Louisiana Lafayette recruit, Hayden Cantrelle, and Louisiana State recruit, Nick Webre, led the way for Teurlings offensively getting 3 hits between them, and Cantrelle scoring the lone run of the game. Cantrelle shined on defense throughout the night, showing off his range and made several difficult plays on the run.

As well, the summer is just around the corner! PBR-Louisiana will kick off the circuit with the Underclass Trials. Last year’s roster has already seen 4 division 1 commits, including 3 from the SEC! Space will be limited, so 2018s and 2019s don’t wait to register #BeSeen.
