Prep Baseball Louisiana: Diamond Notes (Week 3)

The Prep Baseball Louisiana Diamond Notes serves as an opportunity for our staff to highlight players, from across the state, that put up impressive performances on a given week, yet fell short of our Mizuno Player & Pitcher of the Week honors. 

NOTE: These submissions were provided from high school coaches from around the state.  If you are a coach and are interested in submitting a player for our weekly Player of the Week awards, please contact State Director Alex Armand at [email protected].  Our Diamond Notes will be released each Wednesday throughout the high school spring season.

 

Pitcher of the Week

Colton Smith RHP / Parkway, LA / 2024

Rankings  StateRank: 91 / POS: 24

Parkway rose into the Top 10 of our Power 25 Rankings this week at #6, and Smith is a big reason for the Panthers success so far this spring.  The Jones College recruit got the start last Saturday against Central BR and took a no-hitter into the 7th inning, and finished the game tossing a complete game one-hit shutout, while allowing 3 BB with 10 K's, as Parkway defeated Central BR by a score of 2-0.  Smith enters Week 4 of the season with a perfect 4-0 record on the mound.

 

Player of the Week

Marshall Louque RHP / SS / Lutcher, LA / 2025

Rankings  StateRank: 2 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 149 / POS: 38

After dropping two games in Week 1, Lutcher has reeled off 8 straight wins to move their season record to 10-2, and Louque is a big reason why.  The former Future Gamer and LSU recruit was exceptional in Week 3 for the Bulldogs, both offensively and on the mound.  At the plate, he went 8-15 (.533) with 2 HR, 1 2B, 5 RBI, and 5 R.  He also earned the win on the mound, last Tuesday against Teurlings Catholic, after tossing 6 innings and giving up 2 R and 0 ER on 5 H with 3 BB and 12 K's.

 

Other Notable Performances

Bradyn Cupit LHP / West Monroe, LA / 2024

Rankings  StateRank: 2 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 60 / POS: 9

The Rebels needed a good start from Cupit last Friday vs. Mandeville, after having lost their last two games and that's exactly what he gave them.  The LSU recruit tossed 6 shutout innings and gave up only 2 H with 0 BB and 11 K's on 88 pitches (60 strikes | 28 balls).

Quinn Smith RHP / Lutcher, LA / 2024

Rankings  StateRank: 49/ POS: 15

Smith turned in a really good outing for Lutcher, as the Bulldogs went 4-0 last week.  The Southeastern Louisiana recruit earned the win against Holy Savior Menard last Thursday, after tossing a complete game giving up 2 H, 1 ER, and 0 ER with 2 BB and 9 K's. 

Jackson Beddoe INF / Sulphur, LA / 2025

Rankings  StateRank: 39 / POS: 9

The former Future Gamer had a nice week at the plate for the Tors in Week 3.  For the week, Beddoe went 6-9 (.667) with a 3B, 7 RBI, 8 R, and was 9 for 9 on stolen base attempts.   

Isaiah Shivers OF / West Monroe, LA / 2024

Rankings  StateRank: 29 / POS: 4

The Louisiana-Monroe recruit heated up last week for the Rebels, hitting out of the leadoff spot.  Shivers went 11-21 (.524) in 5 games, with 2 3B, 3 2B, 3 RBI, and 7 R.

James Guidry LHP / Vandebilt Catholic, LA / 2025

Rankings  StateRank: 70 / POS: 6

Guidry turned in a brilliant outing last Thursday in the Terriers 3-0 win over Northshore.  The uncommitted southpaw tossed a complete game shutout, giving up only 3 H with 0 BB and 9 K's, on 86 pitches (60 strikes | 26 balls).  

Cade Starns RHP / Central BR, LA / 2025

Rankings  StateRank: 157 / POS: 29
Starns delivered another quality outing for the Wildcats last week in a 4-3 win over Parkway.  The uncommitted right-hander tossed a complete game, giving up 1 ER on 6 H with 0 BB and 6 K's. 

Bradyen Clement UTIL / South Terrebonne, LA / 2025

Rankings  StateRank: 60 / POS: 17

The uncommitted junior continued to hit the ball well in Week 3 for the Gators.  Clement went 4-6 (.667) with a 2B and 2 RBI's.  

Ethan Hopkins 1B / University Lab, LA / 2025

Rankings  StateRank: 118 / POS: 4

The physical first-baseman swung the bat really well in Week 3 for the Cubs.  For the week, Hopkins went 4-8 (.500) with 2 HR, 2B, 3 RBi, 4 R, and 3 BB. 

Zeke Wall RHP / Iota, LA / 2025

The uncommitted junior turned in a heck of an outing last week in Iota's 3-1 win over St. Edmund's.  Wall tossed a complete game and gave up only 1 ER on 4 H with 2 BB and 12 K's.

Cade Durbin RHP / Parkview Baptist, LA / 2025

Rankings  StateRank: 19 / POS: 3

The former Future Gamer gave the Eagles a quality start last weekend in a big win against Denham Springs.  Durbin earned the win against the Yellow Jackets, after tossing a 5 inning one-hit shutout with 1 BB and 8 K's.    

Thomas Allen RHP / Benton, LA / 2025

Rankings  StateRank: 55 / POS: 11
The uncommitted junior and former Future Gamer continued to perform in Week 3 for the Tigers.  Allen earned the save last Wednesday against Texas High (TX), after tossing 2 shutout innings giving up only 1 H with 0 BB and 1 K.  He turned around and got the start against St. Louis Catholic last Friday and earned the win after going 5 IP and giving up 1 ER on 4 H with 3 BB and 7 K's.     

Cole Connor OF / RHP / University Lab, LA / 2024

Rankings  StateRank: 35 / POS: 9
The Army recruit heated up in Week 3 for the Cubs.  At the plate, Connor went 5-8 (.625) with a HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, and 2 BB.

Logan Sorrel RHP / Dunham, LA / 2026

Rankings  StateRank: 3 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 121 / POS: 32
The state's top right-handed pitcher in the 2026 class turned in a gutsy performance last Friday against a talented Brother Martin lineup.  Sorrel earned the win, after tossing a complete game one-hit shutout with 5 BB and 2 K's. 

Brooks Wright OF / Catholic BR, LA / 2024

Rankings  StateRank: 13 / POS: 2
The former Future Gamer and University of Louisiana-Lafayette recruit got things rolling in Week 3 for the Bears to help the team improve their overall record to 12-0.  Wright went 6-7 (.857) with a HR, 2B, 5 RBI, and 3 R.
 
 

Jack Ruckert SS / Catholic BR, LA / 2025

Rankings  StateRank: 5 / POS: 2 OverallRank: 158 / POS: 41
The LSU recruit has swung the bat well all season and that continued last wee during the Bears three wins.  Ruckert went 5-12 (.417) with 2 HR, 5 RBI, and 4 R.

Diego Corrales LHP / Barbe, LA / 2024

Rankings  StateRank: 62 / POS: 10
The uncommitted senior southpaw was dominant once again in his start last week against St. Louis Catholic.  Corrales earned the win, after tossing 7 innings and giving up 2 R and 0 ER on 2 H with 0 BB and 6 K's.

Mason Rogillio C / West Feliciana, LA / 2027

Rankings  StateRank: 14 / POS: 4
The former Jr. Future Gamer has gotten his high school career off to a good start and swung the bat well in Week 3.  For the week, Rogillio went 6-9 (.667) with 5 2B, 4 RBI, and 7 R.

Camden Sunstrom RHP / University Lab, LA / 2024

Rankings  StateRank: 9 / POS: 3 
The Southern Miss recruit turned in a really good outing for the Cubs last weekend in his start against North Vermilion.  Sunstrom earned the win, after tossing a six inning shutout allowing 4 H with 8 K's.  

Christopher Dickerson OF / David Thibodaux, LA / 2025

The uncommitted junior did a little bit of everything in Week 3, as he went 2-3 (.667) at the plate with a 3B and 3 RBI, while also goign 1-0 on the mound, after tossing 6 shutout innings with 6 K's.

Drew Daigle RHP / Brusly, LA / 2025

Rankings  StateRank: 78 / POS: 19

Daigle turned in another stellar performance on the mound in Week 3 for Brusly.  The University of Louisiana-Monroe recruit earned the win against Ascension Episcopal, after tossing 6 shutout innings giving up only 1 H with 0 BB and 7 K's.

Coy Purpera OF / Brusly, LA / 2026

Purpera was red-hot last week for Brusly, as he finished the week 8-14 (.571) with 4 2B and 5 RBI.

Jack Landry OF / Erath, LA / 2026

The uncommitted sophomore had a nice week at the plate for Erath in Week 3.  Landry went 6-9 (.667) with a 2 B and 3 BB.

Aubrey St. Angelo RHP / Brusly, LA / 2026

Rankings  StateRank: 30 / POS: 1

The uncommitted sophomore continues to perform for Brusly this season and did it again last Friday in his last start.  St. Angelo earned the win, after tossing 6 shutout innings giving up only 3 H with 2 BB and 7 K's.  

Kasen Bellard UTIL / Barbe, LA / 2024

Rankings  StateRank: 25 / POS: 1

Bellard turned in a quality outing on the mound in Week 3 for the Bucs, as they opened district play against Carencro.  The former Future Gamer and University of Louisiana-Lafayette recruit earned the win against the Bears, after tossing a 5 inning shutout giving up only 3 H with 1 BB and 5 K's.

Landen Derouen / Erath, LA / 2027

The freshman had himself a nice week in Week 3 for Erath.  At the plate, Derouen went 5-12 (.417) with 3 2B and 3 RBI.

Lynkon Romero RHP / 1B / Erath, LA / 2024

The senior two-way player did it all in Week 3 for the Bobcats.  At the plate, Romero went 6-12 (.500) with 5 RBI and also picked up a win on the mound against Lafayette Christian Academy, after tossing a complete-game shutout with 7 K's.  

Braxton Richard RHP / OF / Erath, LA / 2025

Richard was dominant on the mound for the Bobcats last week against Westminster Christian Academy, as he tossed 5 innings of no-hit baseball with 1 BB and 8 K's in Erath's 13-0 win.

Aiden Washington OF / Brusly, LA / 2025

Rankings  StateRank: 147 / POS: 34
The uncommitted junior continued to swing the bat well in Week 3 for Brusly.  Washington went 9-14 (.643) with a 3B, 5 RBI, 9 R, 3 BB, and 3 SB.

Owen Galt UTIL / Barbe, LA / 2024

Rankings  StateRank: 17 / POS: 3
Galt continued to swing the bat well in Week 3 fo the Bucs.  The University of Louisiana-Lafayette recruit and former Future Gamer went 6-14 (.429) with a 5 2B, 4 RBI, 5 R, and 4 BB.

Lawton Littleton LHP / Barbe, LA / 2027

Rankings  StateRank: 3 / POS: 2 OverallRank: 142 / POS: 34
The state's top freshman southpaw continued to throw the ball well in Week 3.  Littelton earned the win against St. Thomas More, after tossing 5 innings and giving up 2 ER on 6 H with 1 BB and 6 K's to improve his season record to 5-0.
