Over the next few weeks, leading up to the beginning of the 2024 MD High School season, our staff will be releasing our Preseason Power 25. This list will be comprised of public schools across the state that we feel have a strong chance of being successful in 2024. Throughout the coming weeks, be on the lookout for our MD Public School Top 10, as well as a slew of additional preseason coverage.    

#2 Severna Park Falcons 

A perennial powerhouse in the 4A classification, Severna Park moves to the 3A in 2024, adding their name to the immense talent and depth that the 3A offers. A program that continuously develops top-end talent on both sides of the ball year after year, the Falcons look to be loaded once again this spring.

Offensively, the talent is evident, and the balance in the lineup with depth throughout is something the Falcons should be highly excited about as we enter the spring. Led by a plethora of senior leaders, including Angel Santiago-Cruz (Richmond), Jackson O'Brien (Beloit), Kody Phillips (Lebanon Valley), and Nicholas DiNunzio, the experience from past years should bode well for continued success in 2024. Another name to circle is junior, Charlie Hartman, coming off a strong preseason that sees the outfielder poised for a breakout year at the dish.

Although the talent at the dish is special, the plethora of arms on the bump looks to dominate this spring, led by two senior arms in southpaw Nathan Murphy (George Washington) and righty Sean Williams (Penn State). The two were a force last spring and an added year of growth and maturity sees Murphy and Williams on the brink of breakout seasons.
